srvchost using memory and cpu

Recommended Posts

- OPERATING SYSTEM: Win 7 Home premium

- SECURITY SOFTWARES: Norton

- IOBIT SOFTWARES: Smart Defrag Free, ASC9Free

- HARDWARE: HP laptop

The svchost.exe (-k netsrvcs) for taskeng.exe under which SD and performance Monitor run slows this laptop. For a quick help (not a solution) I set the process priority to idle. And increased the virtual

memory.

Note:

this follows a fresh recovery I did for my classmate.Trying to prevent issues with y'all's software.

?Otherwise doing good. When I end the process tree, everything is just fine.

Microsoft help is useless.

I actually did the post above from his machine.

Hi Edward27821,

From the screenshot you provided, we can see the process svchost.exe takes high CPU. It seems that the problem was caused by Windows Update. So we suggest you click here , follow the instruction to disable automatic update, and check if the problem is solved.

Cheers.
