If you have AVG 8 and you have connection problems after 10-23-08 updates of AVG & Windows update KB 958644, (if so you may not be reading this!), I found a fix. (It took all day!) Restart in safe mode with networking, then go to http://www.avg.com/support. (If this is the problem you will be able to connect in this mode.) Click on :"1561-Inactive components after update". Download file "fixfiles.zip" and run it. Then restart normally and "viola", all is better now! (jeez, this is how I wanted to spend my day!).
