Possible ASC and Windows 10 Store issues

Leon_K

Recommended Posts

My first post here so I hope I am posting correctly.

For well over 6 months I have been struggling with Windows 10 Store errors 0x8024401c when trying to download from the Store, and 0x80072EE2 when trying to make in App purchases.

Firstly this was with one laptop, then I purchased another and having the same problem on both.

Now, why I am posting here is I believe this could be caused by ASC.

Firstly, as soon as each computer experienced problems I tried doing an ISO upgrade, an ISO upgrade will not proceed unless ASC is uninstalled.

Out of sheer frustration I ended up wiping the hard drives on both computers and starting again about 1 month ago, on 1 computer I installed ASC, and on the other I did not.

On the computer I did install ASC immediately the same errors, I could not download from the Store.

On the computer I did not install ASC on everything worked well until yesterday when I did install ASC and bam, I am getting the same errors on this one now.

When I try to download from the Store the download fails to aquire licence and I get the error 0x8024401c and now I can no longer make in App purchases.

Please please please, is it possible ASC could be stopping windows Store from being able to access necessary registry files or whatever to be able to gain access?

Hi Leon_K,

Welcome to IObit Forum!

Sorry for it. Please do the following steps separately on your two computers that have the issue to help us further look into the issue.

Download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe -> Double click to run this tool on the PC with problem and click 'Save report'. -> After it finishes, you will get a popup window to tell you where the report file IObit_Debug_Info.zip is saved. Click 'OK' button to open that saved folder. -> Send the zipped file to us.

Thanks.

Hi Leon_K,

Please follow the steps to restore the registry related changes to check whether the issue is solved or not.

1.Run Advanced SystemCare 10 -> click Options icon on the top left corner of the main screen -> choose Rescue Center from the dropdown list -> choose Rescue Registry -> choose the item 2016-11-22(12-48-53) from the Backup Date box -> click the button Undo Changes.

2.Reboot your computer to check the issue is solved or not.

Please tell us the result. Thanks.

Thank you for your reply,

?First computer there was no date for 2016-11-22 so I restored it to 2016-11-20 with no success, so I tried another restore to the first date on there which was 2016-11-12, still no success unfortunately, when trying to download from the Store it commences starting download but will not acquire licence, error code 0x8024401c

?Second computer I just restored back to the first install which was in September, same thing with that, no change at all.

as for method 1 from YouTube I followed instructions as stated but no success, I did however have curious responses from CMD as below;

C:\Windows\system32>net stop wuauserv

The Windows Update service is not started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3521.

C:\Windows\system32>net start wuauserv

The requested service has already been started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182.

As for method 2, I tried MS forums before coming here and because same error stops me from uploading to Onedrive help was refused

Hi Leon_K,

According to your previous feedback that you have restored your computer back tothe first install which was in September, but the issue still exsits, it illustrates that the issue is not caused by ASC.

According to your last information, the Windows Update service is not started, and you cannot access Microsoft OneDrive, maybe the issue is related to your MS account permission or Internet connections. Is your account the administrator account? And please check your internet connections.

Have a nice weekend!

As I stated from the start, this problem appears to occur when I install and run ASC.

?I have tried every fix for many months I could find on the Microsoft forums without success, that is why I did not install ASC on this computer straight away to see if it made a difference and it did.

Again as I already stated the second computer came up with the error code as soon as I installed and ran ASC, this computer I did not install it straight away and everything worked well, until I eventually did install ASC now it is not working again.

Yes I am running admin account, yes my Microsoft account is good, and yes my internet connections are very good, I even had a techie out this past week and he was surprised how good it is

Hi Leon_K,

Please follow the steps below to have a try.

1.Download the file Fix AppStore.zip from the link https://www.dropbox.com/s/ktorc1ou3g5fu68/Fix%20AppStore.zip?dl=0 (You can download it without login)

2.Unzip it, find FixAppStep_1.bat, right click FixAppStep_1.bat to choose "Run as administrator". Then check whether you can download programs from Windows Store or not.

3.If the step 2 does not solve the issue, please right click another file FixAppStep_2.bat to choose "Run as administrator", restart your computer. Then check whether you can download programs from Windows Store or not.

4.If both the step 2 and step 3 do not solve the issue, please refer to the link below to have a try.

Hope it can solve your issue this time. Good luck.:-)

Thanks again;

Method one no luck, it seemed to take forever to reset the store so I stopped it and reset the store manually via right click start - Command Prompt (Admin) - wsreset.exe, have lost count of how many times I have tried to do that over the past 6 months but had to try again.

?Method two, no success either, heaps of red type where it appeared it was trying to install older software than is already installed, was a bit fast so had trouble reading it properly.

Cheers

If you see the post on the bottom of that forum you will see a post by Kylie_K made in March 28th, that is the username for the account on this computer, my Wife, this shows how long I have been struggling with this issue, I thought about 6 months but it must be closer to a year, no wonder I am bald!

Forgive the double post but I just found something else related, a gameloft game I have been playing requires an update, when I go to "Downloads and Updates" in my Store I have a blank page.

?Is it possible ASC has blocked or removed the information for this to work?

Hi Leon_K,

Does the previous issue "Windows 10 Store errors 0x8024401c when trying to download from the Store, and 0x80072EE2 when trying to make in App purchases"has been solved or not? Have you tried the method in Microsoft forum (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-update/code-0x8024401c/ec0c95d2-c030-4171-afd7-69a016451ced)?

As for the new issue about gameloft, please follow the steps below to help us further look into it.

1.Take a screenshot of the blank page, and send the screenshot to us.

2.Download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe.Then double click to run this tool on the PC with problem and click "Save report". After it finishes, you will get a pop up window to tell you where the report file IObit_Debug_Info.zip is saved. Click "OK" button to open that saved folder. Please send the zipped file to us.

Thanks.

I have not been able to go anywhere near my computer the last few days as I have reached my limit with this, it is stressing me out too much now.

?Yes the original issues are still present, the blank page on the Downloads and Updates Store page is an extra issue I had not noticed before because I don't normally go to that page.

?I have had enough now and am going to do another clean install on my computer, this time I will not use ASC,

I will come back in one month to let you know if the problems arise again without ASC

Okay, I am not going to reply to this post any further, it is an issue Iobit needs to investigate further to avoid a large class action in case ASC is effecting peoples computers, as Iobit clearly state that ASC is safe to install on Windows 10.

I firmly believe that the installation and running of ASC does cause damage, probably to the registry, which causes the errors 0x8024401c when trying to download from the Store, and 0x80072EE2 when trying to make in App purchases.

A visual example of this is the 2 photos I have attached, one labelled damaged which shows a blank page on the Downloads and updates page, the other labelled good which shows the Apps installed as it should.

These errors can also make accessing ones Microsoft account, Onedrive, and other Microsoft services very difficult, if not impossible.

I trust someone at Iobit has a spare computer they can test this out on promptly, I have been struggling with this close on a year now, and ASC will remain OFF my computers from here on in.

Hi Leon_K,

Welcome back.

Does the photo names as damaged is the one after you install ASC, and the photo names as good is the one before you install ASC?

If yes, please download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe.Then double click to run this tool on the PC with problem and click "Save report". After it finishes, you will get a pop up window to tell you where the report file IObit_Debug_Info.zip is saved. Click "OK" button to open that saved folder. Please send the zipped file to us.

Thank you very much.

Happy New Year!

The damaged file is after installing and running ASC, the good file is after formatting my hard drive again and NOT installing ASC.

If you see my 2nd and 3rd posts on the thread you will see where I already ran the InfoHelper tool on both computers effected, you were not able to help me from there!!!

At this time I have done a fresh install of Windows 10 on both computers and NOT installed ASC, they are both working fine.

It is up to Iobit now to run necessary tests to find out what I am saying is true.

I have nothing further to say.

Hi Leon_K,

Sorry for it. We've tested it on several Windows 10 computers. But we did not reproduce the issues you encountered. Since the issue cannot be reproduced from out part, it is difficult for us to further look into it.

Would you please install and use ASC again and use your phone or camera to make a video about the whole process of the issue? And please do not resintall your system immediately after the issue appears, but please download the tool http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe to send us the IObit_Debug_Info.zip file. So that we can get enough information to further look into it.

Thanks for your understanding.
