Star Wars The Old Republic will not work with Razer Game Booster [Newest build version]

Recommended Posts

Please help me!!!

I have downloaded the Razer Game Booster and it works fine with all of my other games EXCEPT for Star Wars the Old Republic. I cant even access SWTOR without using the game booster. I have to manually disable all "Tweaks" and restore to normal Windows settings and restart my computer for Star Wars the Old Republic to even Load up and work. Im using a Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4305 with a windows 8 OS. Please help me figure out why i cannot run this game at all even when in normal mode. Below i am posting the Razer Game Booster Diagnostic Report for further inspection. Please help me!!!

RE:

Really Dude?

I go to launch game and it says "Turning to Booster Mode" then it minimizes Razer game booster in 10 seconds then doesnt open the Star Wars TOR game and then immediately says "Returning to Normal Mode". Can anyone help us because ive been reading online that 99% of game booster users cannot even open SWTOR.

Does the game have a game launcher that then launches the game? I have seen this happen with games like this. GB thinks that game launcher is the game so it boosts when it launches, then the game launcher tries to launch the game exiting the game launcher in doing so, GB thinks the game ended and reverts the boost before the real game runs.

If this is the case, try to make a shortcut to the EXE that actually launches the game bypassing the game launcher.

Yes. Its does the same thing to me as well. Just played TOR last night and it did the self same thing you described. I had to launch it through a regular shortcut.

Of what I read, when you launch SWTOR, there are 2 occurrences of swtor.exe running. It appears that this is intentional but there is no clear answer why it is necessary.

My guess is GB is being launched when swtor.exe starts and somehow the second occurrence is confusing GB.

You can confirm the second occurrence by looking at your running processes.

Either way, just run GB, then your game, then when you end the game, revert GB. Problem solved.

SWTOR is problematic across the board.

Even if your system exceeds all the minimum requirements ( on a new system even), sometimes it will still not work and there is no support from the provider!!!) We have given up on the $100 plus we spent.

SWTOR (Lucas) is non-responsive on this and won't refund. It is a messed-up repeat of the botched release before.

Sincerely,

-Mel

I just meet system requirements and I run the game just fine on the lowest settings. I normally get 30 to 40 FPS. When I used to be able to run Game Booster with it I was getting up to 45 FPS sometimes 50 in private personal story and group phases.

Oh also if it helps to fix the issue with Game Booster, here are my system specs. Like I said earlier I can launch the game fine without Game Booster, so its Game Booster.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+ 2.1 Ghz

Video Card: nVidia GeForce 9500 GT 512 MB

RAM: 4 GB

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I think that's all you need. Just like the OP, I'm running the current version of both Game Booster and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Also its not because it a game that use a launcher, because I can run DC Universe Online with Game Booster just fine and its the same type of game. There both MMORPGs with launchers.

Hi Guys,

For the issue you mentioned, please kindly set your Razer Game Booster as follows to see whether the issue continues:

Please log in your Razer Game Booster=>click "SCREENCAST"=>untick "Enable Screecast Module"=>click "Apply".

After that, if you still can not play the game, please feel free to tell us with more details.

Plain_Sight_Doc, Thats exactly what you need to do to play SWTOR.

All you need to do is run GB but don't let it launch the game. After GB is finished tweaking your system and resting in the system tray, then you can launch the game manually.

I can confirm that SWTOR is using a launcher then executing the other .exe file for gameplay. The game won't start from the .exe file, only from the launcher then it will start the .exe file.

So I'd suggest you to follow masterblaster's instructions and it will work for you.

I have Game Booster 3.4 running on a custom built PC Win7 Pro SP1:wink:

I play SWTOR online with a great group people. My gaming PC is setup only for gaming.

I start game booster 3.4 and have it set for 5.0 seconds then to system tray.

Do not use GB so start your games.

I have no issues playing SWTOR online with Game Booster 3.4

When I play Mass Effects 3 then I sometime see a C+ issue popup once in a while but other then that I am happy.

I will not update until I see 3.5 is ready.

I help advertise Game Booster on my gaming forum since it was GB 2.0

I have a back up copy of Game Booster 3.4 just in case

Good luck to the Game Booster Programmers for I feel you pain.

  • 1 year later...

I just got back into SWTOR after being gone for about 2 years. I played during the beta and launch using GB at the time and I am playing now using the current version of GB on my system (4.2.45.0).

As has been stated, GB will recognize the launcher as the "game" and go into restore mode as soon as the launcher closes to start the swtor.exe main game app. The workaround is to just disable the automatic boost function and just boost manually, then launch swtor's launcher to start the game.

The original poster barely has the requirements to play the game from the system specs provided so GB would most definitely be some help but I would think overall the experience would still be painful.

On a side note I found using the SWTOR UNLEASHED ram disk option works wonders for systems with 8 or more Gigs of RAM. I use that along with GB and get sustainable fps. The games performance has improved somewhat since I first played but it's still quite a load on a system with some poor optimization thrown in to keep things frustrating.
