System Control hangs on start

dksvertix

Recommended Posts

Fresh installed latest ASC v4.1.0.235, checked functions and found out that System Control hanged.

Uninstalled, checked if no security programs are interfering, reinstalled ASC, checked again, still System Control hangs.

Is there anything special that System Control requires to run? Like run-time libraries? Some specific special system file(s) that aren't required by other ASC parts?

I left System Control hanging for 20 min, but still it got nowhere. What I did notice, was that all the time System Control's CPU usage was exactly 12,50% and sometimes dropped to 12,30%. There were no other processes that demanded any CPU while System Control was hanging.

I think I might be missing a critical system file required to run System Control tool. All other tools seem to be working fine.

Any ideas?

p.s. I have left this command prompt command in Usage of IObit Programs under useful commands in run:

dir /b/p "C:\Programs\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 5\drivers" > "Desktop\drivers.txt"

to easier to be able to compare the lists.

Oh, not that latest! I meant latest Stable release -

I have Advanced SystemCare 4.1.0.235

And I meant its System Control tool aka Sun14_SystemControl.exe

So, this is all what System Control currently does on my PC:

http://i55.tinypic.com/b3lglh.jpg

It just hangs like that.

So, what extra system critical files does that tool require to run, but what is not needed by any other part of ASC?

I know it's not the fault of ASC itself, since it worked before I reinstalled Windows. And also, Linux's WINE can somewhat run it.

That's why I just know, that one of my system files is faulty or even missing.

Do you open SystemControl through the folder?

It works by me.

Have you tried a chkdsk or scandisk and have you tried a sfc /scannow

In case of some error in your system?

Cheers

solbjerg

p.s. have you tried renaming Sun14_SystemControl.exe to Sun15_SystemControl.exe

try them both - then rename back to Sun14_ and try that again

Sometimes things hangs - hästi?

Hi dksvertix,

Please try the way below to solve this issue.

1)Please download the Sun14_SystemControl .rar from the link below, then extract it to get Sun14_SystemControl.exe.

http://www.wikisend.com/download/809036/Sun14_SystemControl%20.rar

2)Please replace the original Sun14_SystemControl.exe in the ASC 4 program folder.

Usual path: C:\Program Files\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 4

3)Please run the System control again to see whether it is OK.

Hi dksvertix

Nice to hear that Cicely's solution worked.

A clean install with the latest version may have worked too then?

Cheers

solbjerg

@solbjerg

All ASC files are present, renaming won't work, CHKDSK doesn't detect any errors and I don't have a proper WinXP CD to run SFC.

But..

@Cicely

That worked!

Can you tell, what was the cause? Is it related to my system or...?
