search for applications no longer working in latest version

After installing the latest start menu 8 version a while back, I noticed that if I click the start button and start typing the name of the application I want to load, the search functionality no longer works as expected... I can type the name of an app, and many times it won't find it, or it might find the name of the actual exe file instead of the link in the start menu.

I recent upgraded to windows 8.1 and have continued to try running the start menu 8, and the search results are still bad, if not even worse.

Is this a known issue, or is my machine just misbehaving?

Hi boomhauer,

Regarding the issue you encountered, our specialist developed a demo and please follow the steps below:

1. Download the file NTFSScan.dll from http://wikisend.com/download/279902/StartMenuDemo.zip and unzip it

2. Double click StartMenuDemo.exe to run it, click the button Replace DLL. Please wait for 2 minutes and then search the item from Start Menu 8.

3. If the issue you reported still exits, please run StartMenuDemo.exe, click the button Get Log File. It will open an directory, please find the DiskScan.log file there and send it back to us for further investigation.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Pieman, welcome to IObit Forums! :-D

I have attached the StartMenuDemo.zip file for you.

Exit Start Menu 8 and extract the contents to

C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Start Menu 8

folder.

You can attach the log file compressed as a zip file to your post or send it to the attention of Cicely at support@iobit.com referencing this thread.

Cheers.

rather than starting a new thread I figured I would post here. I am having the same issue. I extracted the files to my StartMenu 8 folder...it replaced the dll file. However, my search still does not find any of my programs.

Attached is the log. Please let me know if there is something else I can do to get it working.

Many thanks!

http://wikisend.com/download/448794/FileSystemDemo.exe

2. Double click to run it and then take a screen shot of the content shown inside the window.

Thank you so much.

Hi,

I don't think this is working correctly. This is all that was displayed when I ran the filesystemdemo.exe.

C:\ NTFS

D:\ NTFS

E:\ NTFS

I tried running it as administrator but that didn't help.

I am running windows 8 Pro 64bit

If you need more help let me know. I am a software developer and may be able to do more to help with debugging. Feel free to contact me on skype (contact me for name)
