MacBooster does offer a method to uninstall itself. Use the help tab on the menu bar and select "Uninstall MacBooster". However, it does not cleanly uninstall itself. It leaves some files on the Mac. You can find how to remove them in the Apple Forum. While you are there, you can read some horror stories people had with MacBooster as well.

I have been a long term ASC Pro fan, and have 6 Windows PCs running ASC Pro. They are great. However, MacBooster is a disappointment.

If I use MacBooster to "clean" my Mac, it will destroy some useful information as well. For example, it got rid of my iTunes subscription data. I had to contact AppleCare on how to restore iTunes.

The uninstall function in MacBooster is very questionable as well. Think about it. If MacBooster cannot cleanly uninstall itself, how can it uninstall other programs? I don't think so...

Hi vett93,

Thanks for your feedback.

For the uninstall issue, the Uninstall.pkg in MacBooster can help you uninstall MacBooster. As you mentioned it will not help you remove the additional configuration files dependent on the program. It is quite normal. And you can remove these file manually.

For the iTunes issue, please give us the following details to help us look into it:

1) What is the precise version of your MacBooster ?

2)What are the datas that have been removed from your iTunes?

3) Which functions of MacBooster did you run before the issue?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cicely,

An uninstall utility program is supposed to remove all files associated with a program to be uninstalled. So MacBooster is supposed to remove all files in this case. What I am saying is the following. When I tried to uninstall MacBooster using the following instruction:

http://www.macbooster.net/ld/uninstall.php

It left a few files on my Mac. So if MacBooster cannot even uninstall itself cleanly, I would have a hard time believing it can uninstall other programs cleanly. If I have to manually find these leftover files and remove them as you suggested, why would I need an uninstall program like MacBooster?

I don't have the MacBooster anymore. But I just downloaded it about 10 days ago. So it is probably still the latest version.

Regarding the iTunes files that MacBooster removed, one of them is the authentication data stored. I pay $25/yr to Apple so I get commercial free iTunes music. MacBooster removed such data when I used the clean function.

As a result, I have to re-authenticate my Mac after using MacBooster. iTunes allows up to 5 authenticated uses for each paid subscription. So I had to contact AppleCare to reset my iTunes account.

Hope I am providing useful info to you.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

To look into the uninstall issue, please send us the files that can not be deleted when you uninstall Macbooster by attachment.

For the itunes' issue, we are doing a test. Once we have any improvements, I will post here.

Looking for your reply. :-D

I did not keep track of the remaining files when I un-installed MacBooster. Additionally, when I un-installed Avast! anti-virus software using MacBooster, there were quite a few files remained on my Mac as well.

If you go to Apple Forum and do a search on MacBooster, you will find more horror stories....
