retired Seismic Surveyor. Born in the Crowsnest Pass, in Alberta, grew up on a mixed farm, in SW Alberta. Worked as a R/R Telegrapher, for the CNR, in the Calgary Division, for 3 years, during my early 20s. Started in the Oilpatch when I was 24, and found myself pitchforked into Crew Managing in 1964, going from Field Clerk to being responsible for 50 men, and their Camp, and their equipment & supplies. Crew was supplied by air, across a 90 mile gap, NW from High Level, Alberta. Pre-portable computer days, all done by hand, including india-inking the monthly Statistical Report! Tried to make sure I stayed working as a Surveyor, 2.5 years later - too many folk knew I could Crew Manage, which meant sudden changes, if a Crew Manager needed to go attend to personal business...
