hi all
i think that the updater routine in Smart Defrag must be improved and Simplified. At the moment it connects u to IOBit page and suggest u to download without knowing if such an update is necessary I understand that this upgrade is not so frequent but i believe it must be improved. thanks |

Hi B_kun,
You already have this option in Smart Defrag. Go to Options and check the "Minimize to system tray when program is closed" check box and click Apply button. That's it. Cheers.

When defragmenting a rather full drive (see attachment) I would like to see 2 additions, if possible:
1) An Option to defragment free filespace only. MyDefrag (http://www.mydefrag.com/Manual-DownloadAndInstall.html) has this option, and it was only after I downloaded, inatalled, and ran its "Consolidate Free Space" option was I able to have any lasting success with defragmenting this particular (very full) drive), and 2) When defragmenting, after a file has been moved to its new location, add the now-freed-sectors into the free sector map. I suggest that this may not be happening now, or may not be working well, because on this very full drive, after it defragged some files, and complained that there wasn't enough space to defrag other files, I would immediately re-run the same "Deep Optimize" defrag, and it would be able to defrag one or two other files. I could do this repeatedly, each time one or two files would defrag. This tells me that the space being used by the files weren't being introduced into the defrag calculation iteratively. Thank you so mugh. I have enjoyed using this tool, and _especially_ like the auto-defrag option -- it's the #1 reason why I am using this tool on a regular basis instead of others (such as MyDefrag). Thanks! |

First I love your product.
Second. When my external drives are connected and I have autodefrag on, but NOT selected to defrag those drives, I can't eject or safely remove them from Vista&Win 7 unless I close the SmartDefrag process from task manager. -Jball5 |

Merry Christmas to all of you,
I have one question: How is it possible to choose the defrag method for automatic defragmentation? I like to switch auto defrag from "defrag only" to "defrag and optimize", how I can do this? I could not find any option to switch the automatic defragmentation process, it is always on "defrag only". Or did I miss something because I could not figure out how to switch the defragmentation method for auto defrag. If there is no option to switch, I suggess to implimentate such an option for auto defrag. (And please excuse my bad English, greetings Serpico) Last edited by Serpico : Dec. 25th, 2009 at 14:59. |

Hi Serpico,
I have thought of that too,but when we take the definition of Auto Defrag of Smart Defrag : "Auto Defrag automatically defrags the system drive when your computer is idle. Prevent heavy defragmentation and make your computer run at its top speed and optimum performance." It is in a way understood and if you think about that it runs when you are working with the PC, "Defrag Only" is the better choice of possibility IMO. Cheers.

Hi enoskype,
yes I understand that. But I think: Let the user choose which way she or he likes to use the auto defrag mode. If it takes too long in another mode as "defrag only" you can easily switch back. I think, it would not be bad if any user can choose the mode of auto defrag by her- or himself. And for myself: It's the only function I really miss in this great program. greetings, Serpico Last edited by Serpico : Dec. 26th, 2009 at 20:21. |
