MimarSinan in Regedit ???????

hi guys

browsing in registry and removing entries left like Google entries i met some unknown ones but the most strange is one named MimarSinan (there is a turkish university with this name)

HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MimarSinan/InstallAware/Ident.Cache

all three levels have the same solely entry

NAME ab(Default)
TYPE REG_SZ
DATA (value not set)

what the hell is this about??

Can anyone explain??

Hi demitris,

There is a software company under MimarSinan name.
MimarSinan focuses on installation and data compression products.

InstallAware is one of their products.

Most probably, you have installed something which was using their install program.
I have it in my registry too.

what about removing it? is it going to cause side-effects?

was it running only for installation? or it must stay there?

Hi demitris,

It is better to leave a Registry entry if you don't get malware warning and you don't know what it is doing.
Since there is no value for the entry I don't think any harm will be done removing, but do it if you wish, with your own risk.

I have entries for that as:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MimarSinan\InstallAwar e\Ident.Cache\{10CD364B-FFCC-48BE-B469-B9622A033075}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MimarSinan\InstallAwar e\Ident.Cache\{DED53B0B-B67C-4244-AE6A-D6FD3C28D1EF}
With Application Data values, and I dare not to delete them.

I wouldn't play with the registry if I was not really sure what I am doing.

hi everyboy

to whom it concerns i have to report that entries for MimarSinan in registry as mine (mentioned in first post #1) is rubish.

i exported it and no consequences been noticed so far

I believe it was installing programs for GOOGLE applications like GoogleEarth that had to be removed but...

Just for curiosity: MimarSinan was an Ottoman famous architect in 1500 century born Christian with name JOSEPH.
He built many famous monuments and other constructions for Ottoman Empire
