I did not say they were hosting porn. They are hosting a black hat SEO page and using porn keywords to lure people into downloading their programs. Any excuse for that? |

I used "you guys" in the larger sense. The specific reference to your specific post was not accurate.
Nope. No excuse for that. I already said I agree with you. I'm not defending IObit, just trying to clear the air a little.

I know I also said I would be quiet now but I've been watching the thread and thinking.
Again, I can appreciate the position of all the IObit supporters right now. I also serve at several of the security forums and help folks with cleaning their PC's. This post is not in regards to the alleged theft of intellectual property. And no, IObit is not hosting porn or illegal sites. I get that and I can read. Now forgive me mods if I post something that shouldn't be posted. I'm not posting any links, just some search terms (using Google). hentai porn - IObit page is on the bottom of the second page in rankings which is pretty high porn games - middle of the second page (again pretty high) I would consider these common search terms for folks who are searching for this stuff. Now, please don't insult our intelligence any more and say that IObit has nothing to do with these pages. It has been proven and is very clear this is "blackhat", or whatever you want to call it, SEO, and they've been doing it for quite some time. Now, another thing...their P2P turbo beta project. http://www.iobit.com/labs.html This page comes out number 2 on the search word p2p turbo. Now again, not illegal, but certainly highly questionable ethics again. This brings me to my conclusion (I know, not soon enough). I do a lot of help with Malware Removal and Prevention. These 2 surfing practices/uses (porn and P2P) are probably number 1 and 2 in terms of folks getting their PC's infected. So my conclusion is they are encouraging users into unsafe practices, then telling them we have your fix. Wow! I give props to whoever thought this up, it's clever, no doubt. Sorry, one more thing. I have tried to put myself in your shoes (the IObit forum supporters) as I said I serve the same role in many other forums. If it were me and any one of the forums I served in was doing this, I would step down in my support until they corrected their ways, or at least stepped up to the plate and made some explanations. I do feel for you guys and glad this has not happened to me or the products I support. Regards, Dave aka IndiGenus |

Hi Dave,
I'm with you on all points. Even if IObit is found to be in the clear re: IS360 and MBAM I still have to decide whether or not I want to continue to support a company that uses such advertising practices. The facts that the pages were updated relatively recently (mid-Oct), and are still up today indicates that they're a part of IObot's sales strategy and not simply hack-ware or the left-overs of a rogue web master. As far as that goes...well, there's not really a decision to be made; I can't/won't support that sort of marketing. It's disappointing. Dave

That is fine and dandy Mongoose and you have all the rights to do that. I don't question their products' effectiveness (I've never used them). I would just not prefer to have my online reputation and presence be associated with such business practices.

Just a suggestion to the mods. Maybe consider splitting the accusation thread into 2 threads. One for each accusation as they are separate issues. Just a thought....

What else would you like us to do IndiGenus?

I understand they are not responding to your questions. That's too bad. Not much else you can do. As I had said. I think the porn pages need to get pulled. But all you can do is ask.
Have we heard ANYTHING from a corporate rep? |

Hi IndiGenus,
No, it is a misunderstanding on your side, as they are responding to our questions, and that is not too bad. I do not look specificly to porn pages, and my PCs are 100% protected to as such, but after the allegations here, I looked and that conserned web page is opened without any bells whatsoever. I would not get into the porn pages subject as I don't think it is any concern to us, and I don't want to hear anything about it also. This is the first and last post I will talk about porn here, as porn is not permitted in this Forum. I would advise users not to do that too. What you hear from IObit reps, is what we hear also. Cheers.
