Advanced System Care breaks windows search in the startbar for windows settings and programs in settings!!!

After Cleaning Junk and privacy traces if you open windows settings the search bar will no longer find any settings in the settings search box. Also, in the start bar it will no longer find many things. For example, if you type 'check for updates' it will no longer bring up the icon to check for updates. It doesn't completely break search but it breaks it for anything connected to windows settings. I had to search for hours to find a fix after it hosed my computer, and that was to install an alternate language pack like United Kingdom English and switch the computer to that and then back to United States English and that fixed the search again for windows programs and settings.

I am not sure which setting was breaking it exactly, but I unchecked in Privacy Sweep; other Explorer MRUs, and Search. Also, I unchecked in Junk File Clean; tray notifications cache, and user assist history.

So, one of those settings is messing up peoples windows but am not sure which one.

The problem is reproducible if those cleaning options are checked that I listed, it will break the search for windows settings as I mentioned. I also know it was the program since I fixed the computer and then cleaned it again with advanced systemcare and then the search function for certain items was broken again! So I fixed it again and unchecked the options I mentioned guessing that it was one of those and cleaned the computer again and it did not break it. The developers need to figure out which of the options I mentioned are breaking the search function since this is not a desirable result for anyone that wants to clean their computer.

Hi there,

Is the problem still there?

Please follow the steps below to provide us with the requested file for our further investigation.

1) Download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe

2) Double click to run this tool on the PC with problem and click 'Save report'.

3) After it finishes, you will get a popup window to tell you where the report file IObit_Debug_Info.zip is saved. Click 'OK' button to open that saved folder.

4) Send the zipped file to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

If the mail can't be delivered because of IObit_Debug_Info.zip, please upload it to http://www.wikisend.com/ and then send the upload link to us.

Thanks for your time and assistance in advance.

  • 4 weeks later...

So you say there is a bug in IObit where the Windows search function breaks if there is no consistency in the selected region and the language used.

I believe if I had selected the UK as the residential region and used UK English as the language then would there have been any error?
