Stop the upgrade nag message

Recommended Posts

Very Good question!

I would like to Stop that also!

(every time I load an older version of V4)

That question has been asked Before on this forum site,

without an answer though.

So we will be Very Lucky to get answer this time,

since I don't think it can be disabled, without upgrading.

I don't think there's an Internet connection attempt, unless you click OK.

Ah, I see that I was Wrong!

By disconnecting from our router, I did Not get the popup message.

So, it is connecting to IObit server and determining that I don't have latest version.

Now, just how difficult it will be to block that, is the question? :?:

I've never tried to block something like that with the Firewall that comes with W-7. :-?

I was thinking, that since there is a separate Autoupdate.exe program,

that I did not know about,

It may be easier to just Rename the Autoupdate.exe to Autoupdate.old or something like that, to block the Popup message?

I'll try that on another computer, but I'll need to wait until tomorrow to try it,

since I'll be too busy tonight.

nagging service??

Hi all

What some see as nagging is actually a service.

Bear in mind that the updating of malware .def files is discontinued in older versions and that keeping these older version can make you more susceptible to attack by malware. This is the reason that you are reminded to upgrade to a newer version. Actually a service!!

Well, below/above (according to your chosen settings) enoskype has already offered a solution on how to not see this service - and if it is you intension to keep a version that doesn't update, then by all means use that.

Okay, I tried changing the file name and that worked Also,

without any Error messages.

So, that's two methods of stopping the Upgrade-Popups,

but I think Renaming the AutoUpdate.exe file is Easier to do than adding an Output-Rule to Firewall.

(That way it can be Renamed Back to Original .exe name, if needed.)

What some see as nagging is actually a service. ?

And What Some See as A service Is Nagging. ?

both correct ,it can be a intimidating, seeing pop ups and the linking wast of banwith

ok .updating itself .is it necessary No !

is it a good idea? may be ? and may improve what you have running?

is there a need to? No and yes.

To perhaps eliminate it Why Don't Iobit add a Option to ether stop it or allow it

thus saves having to rename or hack a program.

Simply add this as a option.

simply blocking it Using a fire wall will Stop the update only.

but you still get the pop up and the attempted update trying.

This needs to be disabled by the program itself.

or as suggested above my post.

Hi Mr Bean

I have to say though, in spite of your reconciliatory comments, that to abstain from the possibility to be able to update the malware definitions is a bad idea. Therefore I recommend that users update the program to the newer version. As long as it is in beta ordinary users should not do so, but when it is released it is in my mind the best course of action to update the program - that way the annoying pop-up will disappear too :-)

Cheers
