a laggy problem

before i was all ready to quit gaming since the lag made it almost impossible for me to play. i must say gamebooster has done wonders for my lag. desktop manager was probably one of the reasons i was lagging so much, even though it's not as bad with gamebooster, i still lag a lot when i leave it on. gamebooster automatically closes desktop manager though, and it slows down my game massively. are there any solutions to this problem? it might be a bit different since i play a dancing game (Audition) instead of an mmorpg or video game.
