GameBooster = W32/Banload.AWJD? [SOLVED with GB 1.21]

Hi,

My Norman anti-virus just isolated GameBooster.exe and claimed it was a Trojan called "W32/Banload.AWJD" (apparently a TrojanDownloader).

Can someone explain why this anti-virus saw GB as a trojan?

I'm happy with IObit's software thus far, but... I'm not going to use it if it isn't safe.

Avira AntiVir reports Gamebooster also as virus

Avira AntiVir Personal detecs gamebooster as a virus also:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Game Booster\GameBooster.exe

contains recognition patterns of the W32/Induc.A Windows virus.

Please inform us that GameBooster is NOT a virus and preferrably by letting a well known company analyse the file. I will remove GameBooster for now untill more is clear.

Probably genuine

Based on this:

http://www.sophos.com/blogs/sophoslabs/?p=6117

I'm inclined to think that this executable may actually be infected with the virus. Couple that with the other guy in either this message thread or another similar thread who submitted it to VirusTotal and found that a sizeable number of scanners all identified exactly the same virus. I don't believe a false positive would trigger in that many different scanning engines. From Sophos, it seems that an infected computer will compile the virus into Delphi code. So question is, was Game Booster written in Delphi?

Someone at IoBit should scan all of the computers and after cleaning this virus, recompile and release a 1.21. Meanwhile, does anyone have a link to 1.1? I've already discarded my copy.

GameBooster.exe is a Win32/Induc.A virus?

Hi,

A scan by my AV ESET NOD32 v.4 was regarding IObit\Game Booster\GameBooster.exe as - a variant of Win32/Induc.A virus!

Unfortunately NOD32 was unable to clean it; The only options were: Delete or Ignore! (I ignored it!) I hope, that NOD32 reported a false positive!

ASC, maybe?

Well, I've uninstalled GameBooster and I'm now digging through my computer manually in order to locate and fix the infection (Norman fails at removing it automatically, so I have to get clever with my Windows >_>).

Will let you guys know how I'm doing.

Meanwhile, I recommend you also uninstall any IObit products which were recently updated (e.g latest versions), including Advanced System Care as I fear it could be infected too.

False Positive! And we fixed it!

Hello,

Only Game Booster v1.20 has this problem and we believe that it is a false positive. GB v1.20 has been there for some time and everything is OK. One day, some antivirus think it has a trojan. Strange?! We have discussed the issue with these antivirus.

OK, we have released v1.21 that has no positive false problem and are still arguing on the issue.
