Cannot drag icons anymore

Ruskie

Recommended Posts

I have Start Menu 8 installed on my "old" work pc. There, I could click and hold, and then drag any icon displayed in the menu, to drag it to the desktop or to the quick launch icon, for example.

Today I got a new work pc, and I installed Start Menu 8 immediately. Everything works as before (and the settings are the same), except icon are not draggable anymore. If I try to, I get the familiar "forbidden"-shape icon that Windows uses when you want to perform an operation not allowed.

How to go back to the old behaviour?

Thanks

Hi Ruskie,

Welcome to IObit Forum!

Please download and reinstall Start Menu 8 again from the link here: http://update.iobit.com/dl/sm8-setup.exe to see whether the same situation or not.

If the same situation, please use your phone or camera to make a video about what happened and send the video to us for further checking.

And please download the tool GetIObitConfigurationFile.exe from https://www.dropbox.com/s/zeebd524gwwg67b/GetIObitConfigurationFile.exe?dl=0 Then double click to run it and click “Save report to Desktop”. After it finished, click OK. Then you will get the file iu_logs_xxx.log on your desktop. Please send iu_logs_xxx.log to us.

Thanks for your time and help.

Hello Cicely,

I installed the latest version from the link you sent, tough luck.

The forum app won't let me add the files directly, so I have saved them for you on my private cloud storage.

You cand find them on

In the video (apologies, I didn't have a screen recording application at hand so I directly used the phone camera!) you can see me open a program first, and then trying to move around a couple of programs. I can stick them to the list above, this works.

But I can't move them around in the below list, while I was previously able to in my old pc.

This pc uses Windows 8.1, the former had Windows 7.

Thanks!
