Okay I apologize if this is the wrong section in advanced, it looks like i have some serious issues in the bottom of this post. Maybe all registry and ive tried diffrent fix'em :) programs, maybe that was half the problem. I might have to do a new win 7 install biggest problem is I do not have anywere to put my music, videos, and txt files to do a clean install without going out and spending money, so any help would be great. Also I thought if this is possible could I partition say 40 gigs of hard drive move all the stuff I do not want deleted then do a clean win 7 install on whats left, put files back were they go afterwards and delete partion?

I think you need a new Larger Hard-drive.

I suggest a 500 to 750GB drive, since they can be purchased at a relatively low price these days.

Have you run chkdsk /f or /r to check for drive errors?

chkdsk /f

or

chkdsk /r

are run from command-prompt line and will run at Reboot-start-up.

Ya I have done a checkdsk and everything there is fine. It is a small hard drive but besides school im in my last semester for comptuer science so I upload small compilers, dreamweaver, network stuff etc...and besides that I play mmo's so only 1 game at a time on pc, so I always have about 60 to 70 gigs free, I would have enough if I could do that partition thing I asked about. Unfortuently my programming skills are good, and I have gotten pretty good at registry hunting but there is holes in my knowledge which obviously sucks lol, k well thank you for replying, any other ideas?>

Moving programs to another partition is Not advisable,

since the paths change and the Registry entries are no longer correct,

most will not run correctly, and may need to be Reinstalled.

But there is no problem moving data files, like pictures, music, text, etc.

Partitions are very easy to create in Windows Disk-manager.

First reduce the space used on drive for C: partition,

and when creating the new partition it will auto select that empty space for new partition.

Just make you are not trying to use same Name or drive letter that has already been used for another drive or partition.
