GPU High Temperature

lol AMD is terrible.

Is your fan running at a normal speed? What's your case like?

And 50c isn't anything to be concerned about.

Yes, I think that is too Hot, if it is the actual temperature?

(should be less that 40.degC, with system at Idle)

Those AMD cards do have only one Small fan but it should be running at 100%, at that temp.

What are you using to measure the temp?

Did any software come with the video-card that monitors temp and adjust fans?

Did you check 'fan-speed settings' in software to determine if it is set to Auto-adjust and not manually set to a low setting?

If so, you could try other GPU monitoring software

or a unit with temp-sensors that attach to area to be monitored.

If it still reads high I would first suspect a defective fan or speed-control system,

if there is good air-flow in the case.

I like to get video-cards with two fans, if one fails it still has the other one.

To determine if there is a case air-flow problem you can remove the side-cover, for a while, to see if that improves the temp.

Don't forget to check if any of the the fans need cleaning.

Yes, fan-speed should be much higher percentage.

So, you need to determine where the problem is.

I would first try to find another way of testing Temp and fan-speed.

You might be able to find another version of 'Catalyst' that will work with it.

I think there are several versions of it available for download online.

All manufactures of ATI-Radeon type video-cards have at least one version of 'Catalyst'

and most of them have several versions.

Did you try setting the fan-speed to 100%, (Manual-setting in Catalyst)?

Problems with 'automatic-fan-speed-control' can be caused by either Hardware or Software.

Need to determine which it is.

I would do that by first trying different software, which is less expensive.
