Not a while ago, I faced the issue of QuickBooks Error OLSU-1024 in my system. After a brief internet research, I found out these amazing steps. Check them out.

 

Open the following directory and locate the fidir.txt file- C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist

Right-click on it and choose Properties.

  • Now, checkmark the checkbox against read only and apply the changes
  • After saving the changes, set up your online bank account in QuickBooks to examine the status of QuickBooks error OLSU-1024.

Access files through the path C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks enterprise hosting 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist

Now rename fidir.txt to fidir.old

Now right click on Quickbooks, and then select Save Link As

Now save the file on Desktop

Now copy fidir.txt that you had downloaded and paste it on the files folder

To do this you will have to right-click on the fidir.txt, and copy it, and then press the Windows key with E. This will open the Computer. In the filist folder paste the file.

Now you should set up the account by opening QuickBooks desktop.

This may happen if the Financial Institution Directory (FIDIR) is not updated to include your bank information or it is not stored in the recommended location.

 

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

 

Solution 1: Update QuickBooks to the latest release

 

 

Solution 2: Update the Financial Institution directory to the most recent version

  1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist
  2. Look for the fidir.txt file and change its name to fidir.old.
  3. Right-click the link to your version of QuickBooks to get the latest file and from the pop-up menu, choose Save Target As/Save Link
  4. The "Save As" window displays. Select your Desktop as the file location and select Save.
  5. (Optional) If the Download complete window displays, select the Close button.
  6. Copy the downloaded fidir.txt file to the correct filist folder:

    1. Right-click the fidir.txt file on your desktop and select Copy.
    2. On your keyboard, press Windows+ E to open the Computer window.
    3. Go to the filist folder:C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist
    4. Right-click inside the filist folder and select Paste. The fidir.txt file you copied from the desktop will appear in the folder.
    5. Open QuickBooks Desktop and set up the account.

When you try to create an online bank account in QuickBooks Desktop, the following error appears:

An error occurred while updating the branding files! Please restart the Online Banking Setup Wizard to initiate the update process again.

This may happen if the Financial Institution Directory (FIDIR) is not updated to include your bank information or it is not stored in the recommended location.

 

Solution 1: Update QuickBooks to the latest release

 

Make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date.

 

Solution 2: Update the Financial Institution directory to the most recent version

 

Go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist

Look for the fidir.txt file and change its name to fidir.old.

Right-click the link to your version of QuickBooks to get the latest file and from the pop-up menu, choose Save Target As/Save Link As.

The "Save As" window displays. Select your Desktop as the file location and select Save.

(Optional) If the Download complete window displays, select the Close button.

Copy the downloaded fidir.txt file to the correct filist folder:

Right-click the fidir.txt file on your desktop and select Copy.

On your keyboard, press Windows+ E to open the Computer window.

Go to the filist folder:C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist

Right-click inside the filist folder and select Paste. The fidir.txt file you copied from the desktop will appear in the folder.

Open QuickBooks Desktop and set up the account.

 

Solution 3: Repair QuickBooks

 

On your keyboard, press Windows + E. (In Windows 8, select the Computer tab).

Select Uninstall or change a program.

Select QuickBooks, then Uninstall/Change.

In the QuickBooks installation window.

Select Next, then select Repair .

Select Next > Repair > Finish.
