  • No Geolocation

Geolocation is a rather secret feature of some browsers and toolbars. It allows the creator of that program to get a fix on the location of your computer to within a few meters of where you actually live.

Geolocation is the same as GPS on some smartphones. Normally you use GPS to know where you are but this feature can also be used/misused to tell others (read: advertising companies) where you are and then they can give you targetted ads.

Do you want to disable geolocation in your browser, toolbar or phone?

Please take care using smart phones, like the Google Android, because the first malware targetting Google Android based phones has arrived.

Kaspersky Labs have discovered the first malicious software program to target Google's Android mobile operating system. The malware masquerades as a media player. But if it is installed, the rogue application begins secretly sending expensive SMSes (Short Message Service)/Text Messages to a premium rate number presumably belonging to the hackers who created it.

The fake media player application, which Kaspersky dubbed "Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a," is the first one believed to specifically target Android.

              scary stuff???

well you can turn of this feature,a other way simply by..if using fire fox.
              as so.. disable this..

and stop any refrain to fire fox base..? but will do nothing more than that.

you location is still exposed by your browser or any browser.
so i dont know if this is of any use? but it could help some.if at all?

              http://my-i-p.com/

not really as its your isp sever that sending out your ip. and goe location.if using a look up.. its easy to locate ..
without going into this deeply ..
we just cant get away from it,its used in cars,PC,phone.

              or finding places addresses..

How do I turn off Location-Aware Browsing permanently?
              "by fire fox"

Location-Aware Browsing is always opt-in in Firefox. No location information is ever sent without your permission. If you wish to disable the feature completely, please follow this set of steps:

              * In the URL bar, type about:config
              * Type geo.enabled
              * Double click on the geo.enabled preference
              * Location-Aware Browsing is now disabled
              Attached Files

Malware using the GPS of your Android based smartphone

Suppose you download a nice little game like Tap Snake on your Android based smart phone...

Then you end up with a trojan called AndroidOS.Tapsnake that uploads the GPS data every 15 minutes to an application running on Google’s free App Engine service. GPS Spy then downloads the data and uses this service to conveniently display it as location points in Google Maps. This can give a pretty startling run-down of where someone carrying the phone has been.

                      More info here.

How to remove this malware from your phone is now available here.
