  1. Scannan, Still hanging tough after all these years. Hard to believe I joined this forum in 2007. Just want to extend respect to you for all your efforts over the years. There was a time when you weren't a lone voice crying in the wilderness, but those days are long gone. Thumbs upThumbs up
  2. Scannan, this is definitely a Bitdefender problem, At this point you can't navigate anywhere connected with IObit without a warning popping up, including the forum. Bitdefender must be juicing (taking steroids) over the past couple of days. IObit needs to contact BD to get this resolved. I'm sure other sites are having the same problem, current AV's are all intent with saving us from ourselves, even when we don't ask to be saved. Here is an example of what BD is protecting us from, when attempting to read forum content. We blocked this dangerous page for your protection: https://identifyluckyexactly.com/50/a3/51/50a351a59c68401244bd1da2f8e9b6e5.js Threat name: JS:Adware.Popunder.B
  3. Scannan, this is a junk post, posted previously under another username. Word for word, with no response from the OP.
  4. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/iobit_software_updater.html Your Softonic download may have been a false positive. Did you try VirusTotal?

  6. Best to go with those who know:-), in this case Avast. Hope you found your answer and all is good.
  7. Would think you would be asking this question on the Avast forums rather than Iobit, but here's some info that should answer and help to rectify your situation. .https://www.vpnteacher.com/how https://help.avast.com/en/ws_android/1/alert_dns_hijack.html
  8. How about giving a little more information. Examples of what you refer to as browser startups (hundreds of them) would help. Lack of understanding may be due to terminology you are using. A Search for your subject line "Startup Manager-Browser Startups" returns no results.
  9. Here's a link to the decrypters that Emsisoft offers. https://decrypter.emsisoft.com/
  10. Take the time to read thoroughly the article Cicely posted previouly. You will have to whitelist those programs within your A/V if you wish to install them. As stated in the article a large number of A/V and malware programs have started this practice. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/malwar...wanted-program
  11. Though this article refers to malwarebytes, other cybersecurity firms are taking the same action. https://securityintelligence.com/news/malwarebytes-thinks-potentially-unwanted-programs-malware/
  12. Security type software has become much more aggressive in what they identify as PUP's (potentially unwanted programs). This is the reason for the problems you found in your scan report. Security programs are not taking into considerations that not all PUP's are bad and people may want these programs on their machines.
  13. Just got this email this afternoon. I never used the product mentioned, but have been an IObit customer and member of this forum for many years. It appears that another company, has gotten hold of not only the email addresses of IObit customers, but the actual user names connected to those email accounts. Be wary people. IObit comment would be appreciated [TABLE=class: yiv6691166188mob_full_width, align: center, border: 0, cellpadding: 0, cellspacing: 0] [TR] [TD=align: left]Dear (my name redacted) We've noticed that you are, or previously were, using an older version of Advanced Computer System Repair for Windows. 14. http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-transfer-music-from-an-ipod-to-your-computer/ From the comments: If you have Windows 10, in order to view the hidden folders, open the iPod hard drive, click on view and then options ( far right ), then click " change folder options." When the new window appears, click he view tab, and under " hidden files" is the option to show hidden files. Google is a wonderful thing. A.T.
  15. bqvyrihv Just in case you missed Scannan's comment about a.puerta16 being banned. "Sadly user a.puerta16 ignored all requests to desist from confrontational and disrespectful content, and has now been Banned. This Forum will never censor any opinion whether positive or negative as long as it is done in a non-confrontational and or disrespectful manner. It is just as easy to get a point across and be respectful of other users." A.T.
  16. Scannan, From your lips to their ears. (Hopefully) A.T.
  17. Hi xact, First of all, welcome to the forum. Second, though it does not solve the concerns you have expressed, the response from Iobit's Cicely can be found here. http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=16305&highlight=Christmas Hopefully this will not become a common occurrence. A.T.

Hi Guys, Just found this and thought I would pass it on. Whenever I spend time thinking about and attempting to wrap my head around this type of information, I get the sensation of white noise between my ears :}. http://htwins.net/scale/ A.T.
  19. Damn Guys, I'm feeling older everyday. Most of this I remember as clearly as if it were yesterday. Guess that's progress for you???? A.T. The Green Thing, New Idea??? In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day." The clerk responded, "That's OUR problem today. YOUR generation did not care enough to save OUR environment." She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day. Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day. Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the green thing back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint. But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then? Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smartass young person. The Green Thing
  20. Hey Ted!! "Most Excellent" Good to see you back. A.T.
  21. Enoskype, That is fantastic. I pointed out the summary to my wife as she occasionaly threatens me with an upgrade. A.T.
  22. This should make some of us, if not all, feel our age. Stay with this -- the answer is at the end. It will blow you away. One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events. The grandson asked his grandfather what he thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.. The Grandfather replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before: ' television ' penicillin ' polio shots ' frozen foods ' Xerox ' contact lenses ' Frisbees and ' the pill There were no: ' credit cards ' laser beams or ' ball-point pens Man had not invented: ' pantyhose ' air conditioners ' dishwashers ' clothes dryers ' and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and ' man hadn't yet walked on the moon Your Grandmother and I got married first, .. .... ... and then lived together.. Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, "Sir". And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir." We were before, computer- dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy. Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions. Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege.. We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent. Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins. Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started. Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums. We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings. We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President's speeches on our radios. And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey. If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.. Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of. We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards. You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600, . .. . but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon. In my day: ' "grass" was mowed, ' "coke" was a cold drink, ' "pot" was something your mother cooked in and ' "rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby. ' "Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office, ' " chip" meant a piece of wood, ' "hardware" was found in a hardware store and ' "software" wasn't even a word. And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby. No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap. And how old do you think I am? I bet you have an old man in mind...you are in for a shock! Are you ready ????? This man would be 59 years old (young)!! Hope you enjoyed. A.T.
  23. Uninstaller Program Here's a freeware program "My Uninstaller" Nirsoft.net, can also help with programs that may have not included an uninstaller. Will give you good info regarding the program i.e. registry entries, etc., to help you clean up any garbage left behind.
