  1. Yes, we need to remember that Adding more file Moving operations also Adds More Time to completion. Which can be a Great deal of Time for a large drive that has not been defraged resently. :-(
  2. Ah Ha! You Heard it Here First! There IS to Be a Version-3 !
  3. Great! I could not understand why that would be taken out. Thomas, Which version are you looking at?
  4. Does the new version 2.0-final Not have that option? (I'm still using 2.0-beta and it has it, at lower right of main window)
  5. As I said, 'SuperFetch' takes care of All that for you, in Vista and W-7. XP has 'PreFetch' but it's not as complete as SuperFetch.
  6. Can you explain why and when that would be Needed? The only reason I can think of is if you let the first drive get too full of data, but one of the first Rules of computing that I learned, was Never to let Drives get That Full, since it can cause Many Problems. ;-) It seems that having Swap-file on another drive would Slow down the process Greatly? Also, It's my understanding that in later Windows OSs (improved in W-7) there is a utility called 'SuperFetch', that runs in background, that handles all RAM and Swap-file operations. It also acts as a frequently used data buffer. And manually changing the Swap-file location, or decreasing it's size, will cause SuperFetch to operate less efficient.
  7. I was mainly trying to find out if that was the one you were talking about? (or another that I did not know about) The new File Manager in Windows-7 has Everything I need, in that regard. (I Never liked the XP File Manager, which I think is more difficult to use than the one in Windows-95) :???:
  8. Solbjerg, Are you referring to the utility called 'Disk Explorer' in the 'Admin tools' section of ASC? If I remember correctly, I tried using it to Move some files but it would never let me move Any of them? I assumed the reason was that all the files I tried to move were being used by another program?
  9. I've noticed that there have been Many similar request for File and Program Info. If you think about it, you are asking for a Complete New program. Programs like Defrag just Move data blocks around, they do not go into the file indexes, to determine what files are in those data blocks. So, I think adding that file Info would require creating a Completely Different program, and Not what Smart-defrag was design to do. Personally, I just want all drives Defragmented, to Speed up access to the drives. ;-) SD optimize is Slow enough now, without adding more Info collecting to slow it down More.
  10. Yes, for drives that have been optimized recently there's No problem, but when it will be Hours until completion, a count-down clock would be advantagious. I think an accurate clock would be Impossible tho, there's just too many variables. :-(
  11. I see Only the Percentage (%) of completion (for Analyze and then defrag or optimize), Not the Time remaining to completion. (In SD 2-beta) Time remaining would be a Good thing to have. I always do Optimize manually, not Auto or at Boot, so a count-down clock would be handy. :-) I don't know how the 'Speed of computer' (processor, ram, drives, etc.) could be accurately calculated in, but it can probably be done? I've seen other software that does that, but I think that is usually just a rough estimate. A Time 'Estimate' would be much easier to do, but would not really be an accurate clock tho.
  12. Wow, I was joking when I said I may need to Re-Boot. But after finding that the link worked on another computer here, I desided to try the Re-boot anyway, and 'would you Believe', That Fixed the Problem:!: Computers Continue to Amaze me. Sorry about that,
  13. You never said if you are always seeing the Underline but I assume that you Are. If so, I don't see how it would ever work, with the Underline 'Over-writeing' the underscores in the link address :?: It seems to me, that is the same as deleteing part of the link-address and replacing them with something else ? But if you are Not having that problem, I have No Idea what could cause it? Maybe I Need to Re-Boot or something.
  14. Sorry, All of your links are displayed underlined and do Not work. I can get to the website tho, since I figured out what was happening. I'm just trying to let website admin know that evidently there is a problem with Underlineing links, in the Forum software, if there is No way for me to turn that Off. I did Not find anyway to do that.
  15. No, Still No Joy, I also went to the site, copied the URL, and pasted it into my post. Still did Not work. Are you seeing an Underline of link URL? Is there a way to Turn Off Underlining of links in the Forum setup? I think that's what is causing the problem, since there is an underscore already before and after the word 'about' in file. This computer is using Windows-Internet-Explorer 32-bit, with Windows-7.
  16. enoskype, Very Interesting :!: Thank you from me Also, solbjerg, Your link to Disktrix is not working. The underscores in .htm file are being hidden by underline evidently? Why does the Forum software Underline the Links?
  17. We Texans learn the 'Quick Draw' as soon as we 'Get in the Saddle'.
  18. There are other software developers using that round type graph Already. We don't want IObit to be accused of Copying their work. :-P and Personally I think the square graph is easier to read and more practical use of space, altho, as you say, it may not be as Pretty and Cool. ;-) I would not call the version-2-beta blocks 'Boring' tho, which are a big improvement over v1.5 blocks.
  19. Yes, I know what it is and have Run many programs from flash-drives. (It appears my comments may not be Translated properly?) I went ahead and tried an install of version-1.5 to a flash-drive. The SD install routine does Not give the option of where to Install it. It defaults to the c: drive. Having a location option, in the Install routine, is probably what you are asking for? After install to C:drive I was able to Copy the IObit Folder from C: drive To the flash-drive and then run SD from the flash-drive tho. The only problem I saw when doing that is that it was much Slower loading and running than it is from c:drive. If you really Need to run it from a Flash-drive it appears that it Can be done if it is Copied to that drive. I hope that helps,
  20. Free software Must be Installed on a drive somewhere (either internal or external), or it can Not be loaded and Ran. So, I'm guessing that you have Not Tried running SD from a portable drive, correct? If no one else reports having tried that soon, I will attempt it. We Retired guys have some time to Play with stuff like that.
  21. Have you tried to run it from a flash drive? If so, What happened? I've Not tried that, but I may want to someday. So, that would be good to know. I sometimes help friends fix their computers and that could come in handy. It seems to me that it should run Okay from a Flash-drive or memory-card, since it's just another drive to the OS ?
  22. What do you Mean by "portable"? A portable device type that does not have Windows operating-system? Or do you mean you want to run it from a flash-drive or memory-card?
  23. Now we have Three threads, about the Beta:!:  Oh well, It won't 'Complicate Our Lives' Too much. I started to try to copy My thread, (which was the only one Open when V2 was announced), into this one, but that might be even more complicated.
