  1. Hi Computer Player It all depends on the settings in the programs, you probably have a more aggressive cleaning setting in Ccleaner. Cheers solbjerg
  2. Thanks for the feedback jerrrys! Good to hear!! Cheers solbjerg
  3. hi jerrrys Do you have automatic functions running in the program? Try closing the program while you are changing the account to administrator. Restart the computer run an AWC scan and repair, and restart the program and try again with the changed account. This is my guess but I am not familiar with Vista Cheers solbjerg
  4. Defragmentation commands in Vista: From the link detailer provided I gleaned this information: Defragmentation commands in Vista: defrag c: -a -v a=analyze (i.e. defragment) v=verbose (detailed report) defrag c: -v -r r=regards fragments larger than 64Mb as not fragmented (Default Vista setting) defrag c: -v -w w=command to do a full defragmentation regardless of the 64Mb standard. The report will still not see fragments over 64Mb as fragmented. Cheers solbjerg
  5. hey Otaku Ichise You probably didn't uninstall the previous program and clean out/or delete the leftover folder in C:\programs before you downloaded, unblocked and installed version AWC 2.9 Cheers solbjerg
  6. Great samr! Thank you! Cheers solbjerg
  7. Hi Mastaclocksetta Strange - work OK by me, after you have said scan it disappears for a while until it says repair, but then it comes back, - is that what you mean? If not - maybe it can be related to clean install then. Cheers solbjerg
  8. Hello kab1976 Did you try removing KB925877 before installing? Cheers solbjerg
  9. Hi enoskype If you click on the image - it comes up, and is large for a fraction of a second, if you then click on it - it is enlarged, so that you can read the text and see the picture clearly. I had no trouble seeing it on the net either - just copied: live.iobit.com/Scan into the Internet Explorer line and tapped Enter. It looks as if it functions then, but I do not think it is operational yet. Sorry to butt-in enoskype :-) but I felt I had to enlarge a bit on your comment. Cheers solbjerg
  10. Remember to configure all your details before hitting the Repair button! Cheers solbjerg
  11. hi Sam! It would not install on my laptop either, but after waiting a bit it came up with that KB925877 was blocking the install and advised me to delete it. I did, and then ran the update once more, this time without a hitch. I did not have any problem with my stationary computer. Cheers solbjerg
  12. Good idea Sunny I'll leave it up to samr or enoskype to do so Cheers solbjerg

    Dishwashing

Hi Dave - I liked your comment!! Cheers solbjerg

    Dishwashing

My kitchen always looked like a bomb had gone off, so I decided to buy a dishwashing machine. I got my brother-in-law to hook it up to water and sewer and electricity, - while I know very little about those things, - but I helped him – I fetched several beers! Then I was sure that my kitchen would look like a million dollars from now on. BUT – In a couple of days I had it filled, - and it would not start even though I pressed the start button, so after several days my kitchen looked the same as before. Then my sister came by - visiting – and she told me that I had to choose what to do on the program selector! Then it ran its course - and I then had a lot of clean silverware!! - Happy me! Next time I knew what to do, but I discovered that I had forgotten to put some dirty dishes into the machine, so I opened it in order to put the dirty dishes into it, - and it did not stop, and I and the floor got all wet, - well not too bad – I then had the opportunity to clean the floor, - which I did! AND I found out that I had to stop the infernal machine before opening It.!! That was a good lesson – it made me realize that it is a good thing to read the manual before trying out a dishwashing machine! Now I am very happy, my kitchen is always spick and span and everything is going as it should! Cheers solbjerg
  15. Is it called "browsingenhancer dot com"? Or what is its address? When you have found its address, then try to go to Internet Settings f.x. through controlpanel, choose the tab Security, then the option Personal protection and then Websites - paste or write you address there and choose block and finally OK. See if that does the trick. Cheers
  16. Hi seattle two dogs (what kind) (smilie) I think the explanation must be that version 6.20 doesn't exist for AWC, they are still working on version 3!! You must mean/write version 2.60 Or just follow the links! Cheers
  17. Hi enoskype!! A very good tip!!!! I'll elect it "tip of the year"! Cheers and thank you! solbjerg
  18. Hi enoskype! I now found that the radius of the disk is 7 cm, the inner inaccessible part is somewhere between 1.5 - 2 cm, this makes the calculation somewhat different. Storage room >140 cm² per disk, difference in speed between 300% and almost 500%, but a lot of factors influence that - every disk has different sectors, but I do not know what govern their behaviour. I think the most used disks operate at speeds around 7000 revolution per minute, but I read that some operate at 15000 By the way the access of data is measured in nano-seconds (1/10^9) Number of disks in the harddisk is between 3 and at least 7, - absolutely fantastic that the reading head can pick up data at those speeds - practically without error. (about 50 mph at the outer rim (84 km/t)) Very interesting subject my friend! Cheers
  19. Interesting enoskype! I did a little mental calculation A standard CD is 6 cm in radius The inner radius where no data is stored is 2 cm This means that you have an area of (π*6²) – (π*2²) = approximately 100 cm² to fill with data. This again means that the outermost 1,75 cm of the radius contains half the data. The difference in speed in accessing the outermost data and the innermost data is approximately 37 to 25 which is approximately 50% faster in the outer circle, as opposed to the inner circle. How much of the disk’s in the hard drive that is inaccessible I do not know, but if it is only the inner 1.5 cm radius that is unused, the difference in reading speed can be approximately 4 times higher in the outer region. In other words up to 400% higher! Cheers
  20. Hi sunny! This is undoubtedly true, but it depends to a great extend on how much deleting and installing and general use you have done between defragmentations. By the way have you noticed if you have fewer programs in your start up list? Cheers
  21. Hi enoskype! This is just because I have a suspicion that some of the problems we read here in the forum is caused by too little free space or/and almost full disks. I just want to add that sufficient free space is an important factor in the speed of the computer, it is also essential to leave enough space for the defragmentation to be able to run. Futhermore an almost full disk will fragment much more than a disk that is only half full or less. You will not notice much increase in speed in a slightly filled disk after defragmentation, but the harddrive may last longer because the heads in the harddisk does not have to travel as much as they will when the disk is fragmented. Thank you!
  22. Good to hear! The important thing is to go into "details" before cleaning and choose what to keep and then add it to the ignore list. This goes especially for the system settings. It looks as if too many rely solely on the program to do things, but the program can not differentiate like you can yourself, so always check the first few times you run the program, afterwards you can almost leave it solely to the program to fix things. Cheers
  23. My guess is that the optimization has been allowed to take things a bit to far, to optimize fully will mean that the computer doesn't use so many resources, and one of the things it can cut back on is the number of coulours for example. Try the same thing I proposed to Tros, and let Windows choose the best settings for your computer.
  24. Glad to hear it. The one click approch is not quite true, at least one has to go into each "details" and choose what to let AWC handle and what you want to keep by adding it to the ignore list. Something like that is probably what is giving you problems with internet connection too. Then after one has configured the program the one click approch is much closer to the truth. :-) Cheers
  25. Another thing I thought of was to right click my computer - choose properties, - choose advanced and then choose the top button "Settings" and put a checkmark in "Let windows choose the best settings for your computer". Let's see if that makes any difference
