  1. IE temp files Hi Cicely, sorry for the delay. regarding the "protected" temp files, Additional is probably a better definition. They are in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files and C:\Windows\SysWOW32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files. 5. Hi Cicely, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE SAFE BOOT OPTION >> IS NOT DIRECTLY AVAILABLE UPON REBOOT << dont know when MS will revert this change Any blue/black screens of death cannot therefor be backed-out, using this option I would suggest that for W8 users that any and all driver updates are completed in a real-time mode Roy

  7. ie11 in >>IE11< there appears to be a "protected area" for temporary files that is why ASC cannot currently remove/delete these items. Royu

  12. defrag from hibernation Hi I think SD4 should have the option to defrag on wake from hibernation/sleep, for W8 computers see my reply to Roman in SD3 for my reasoning Roy
  13. The next logical step Hi All, As the title infers the next step would be to create a complete system, back-up/restore facility, either using Disc/Usb. Roy
  14. XP Hi CK, an interesting thought, but any security flaws (1) that MS finds in regard to XP are NOT going to be openly published so therfor Iobit will have no knowledge of them, ergo they will not be able to produce a fix for them. However Virus/malware items are routinely updated, see Cicely's post in ASCU.. NB (1), these only relate to general public versions of XP, many governments and i suspect many large companies, have entered into contracts to extend the support for XP, for a number of years to come. Roy
  15. possible cause Hi All, if the following registry key is changed, to completely turn off UAC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System Key: EnableLUA Value data: 0 >>> NB This prevents Metro/Modern apps from working. <<< Roy
  16. its a virus Hi Kenny, Conduit is a virus, not a real nasty though suggest you you go to the security sub section and follow the Have i been infected guidlines. Roy
  17. multiple icons Hi Pablo As those icons are showing on the right hand side of the toolbar they are usually created by windows when a new programme is downloaded have you downloaded it 4 times by any chance?? Roy
  18. licence Hi TJB, Downloaded mine no problem yesterday. What i allways do prior to this is remove all previous versions AND remove the folders. Roy
  19. no licence required Hi All Yu can run ASCU beta7 without a licence. We'll have to see what happens after 30 days. Roy
  20. more info process manager Please see my reply to Jon Duke, in asc other for more info
  21. Active optimiser Hi all, It might be worthwhile having an option to turn off specific process's within this set-up. Looking at mine today found it was optimising my printers file even thou i wasnt using it. Got around it by setting it to manual in windows services Roy
  22. thoughts Hi All, DV8, agree with most of your suggestions Startup manager unfortunately in this world of security from W7 MS decided to beef things up a bit 1 of the things they did was to set non user allowable change options to certain progs(ie grayed out) or not allowing delayed startup. Registry Fix have always said this the most dangerous option Would like to see a popup(not timed) WARNING SELECTING THIS OPTION COULD SERIOUSLY AFFECT YOUR COMPUTERS STABILITY CONTINUE YES/NO. having said this i believe if you do not select items 1 and 2 (even with deep scan enabled) ActiveX and components, Registry Integrity then there is a low probabilty of causing damage. How about a link to the forum Never had aproblem with ASC loading after Wifi Roy
  23. process values Hi Jon, merrily hidden away in windows7 and earlier versions, not sure about W8, is a programme ranking option, came across it a while back, if i remember rightly its in task manager. (just checked its not but i will find it!) UPDATE yes it is Process>select prog>Rightclick>setPriority>pick 1-6,Low-High. Basically it assignes a priority value of low/normal/high, it is user changable. This is what active optimise changes. Ergo its worthwhile using it. NB Active optimise only changes the value for your session. IF you change the values, as described above they will become permanent Leave them alone if you dont know what your doing. Roy
  24. again i ask for it allowed/Blocked key Hi All, WE NEED an option to automatically goto Allowed/blocked items within IMF Roy
  25. surfing protaction Hi Slojanko, regarding your point about this. It is an optional extra and can be turned off via settings. Roy
