It removes ASC Pro?

1. Will there be a license fee for ASC w AV once it is released? I imagine there will be.

2. If there is a license fee for ASC w AV and it removes ASC Pro will you be able to use your license for ASC Pro for ASC w AV or will you have to buy a new license for ASC w AV for the RTM versions?

Thanks

Hi guys!

@Magic[Hunter],

Thanks for the heads up.

@solbjerg,

- ASC wA/V 2013 is already officially released.

@buddahfan,

- It will remove ASC FREE or/and ASC PRO.

- There is a license fee for ASC wA/V 2013

- You will not be able to use the license of ASC PRO for ASC wA/V 2013.

- You will have to buy a new license for ASC wA/V, but there is fair amount of discount for ASC PRO users with legitimate licenses.

@sunny staines,

- ASC wA/V 2013 which is released today at MajorGeeks is the Final version (NON-Beta)

@ Toppack,

Good philosophy. :lol:

Cheers.

Hi sunny,

Yes, when installed in compatibility mode, ASC wA/V real-time protection will be OFF if there are other A/V and Malware softwares even installed.

If the other security softwares are uninstalled, then ASC wA/V can be run also on real-time protection mode.

In summary, ASC w A/V can only run in non-real-time mode if there are other security softwares (except IMF) installed.

Cheers.

EDIT: After uninstalling ASC wA/V completely, I can say now that Final ASC wA/V installs if there is another security software already installed and real-time protection can bu Turned ON unless the already installed security software is an A/V program. :roll:

My ASC Pro license doesn't expire until the second half of 2013 about 2 months after my avast! AIS license expires. (Don't ask how I got a ASC Pro license for more than one year. All I can say is that it took a lot of emails with IObit to get it all sorted out)

I see IObit is now offering a ASC Pro license for one year for three computers for just $12.97.

I will keep using ASC Pro and avast!7 AIS until my avast! AIS license expires.

Thanks for the reply:-)

Partnering With BitDefender, IObit Fires big by Releasing Advanced SystemCare With Antivirus 2013

Press Release on Business Wire. I found it on Sys-Con Media.

IObit, the world’s leading system utility software provider, today announces the official release of Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013. Powered by the #1 rated BitDefender™ antivirus engine, Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 is a game changing product that combines the most popular PC optimization software with the highest rated security suite.

Compared with Advanced SystemCare, PC optimization software enjoyed by millions of users, Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 is a new category of PC utility software that combines system optimization and security capabilities. While most antivirus software often slows down system performance, Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 is the only suite to both protect and increase system performance. Through years of customer feedback, IObit has learned that consumers seek better system protection with no performance lag, stable compatibility and high detection rate all in one product. According to a recent report by Intel, 17% of PCs have no security implemented. Powered by BitDefender’s powerful virus engine, IObit claims Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 as superior to Kaspersky, McAfee, AVG or other security-only solutions.

“Based on long-term experience in developing system utilities and tracing the market dynamics, we’ve discovered from users that there is great demand for the integration of security and performance features into one ultimate solution,” says Kevin Zhou the marketing director of IObit. “Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 is a new product which can protect your computer without slowing down the system. As far as we know, Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 is the world’s first combined optimization-security software.”

Hi Buddahfan,

If you go to page http://www.iobit.com/ascav-register.php and enter your license code in the box under:

"Are you an Advanced SystemCare PRO user? Please enter your license code to redeem a bigger discount!"

and click Update Cart button on the right of it.

"Dear PRO user, please enjoy your sole discount." will appear.

Then click on Get it now>> link on the right of Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 above the code box.

You will see how much you have to pay in the next page if you have a valid license of ASC PRO.

If I am not mistaken, it is $9.99 USD for 3 PCs for 1 year.

When you buy ASC wA/V, the difference of having or not having ASC PRO license is $20 USD.

IMHO, this is a great OFFER! http://forums.iobit.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up. The purchase says for 12 months which is the standard license length. However, I had a bunch of problems with my licenses and when IObit finally resolved it they extended my ASC Pro license to 10-27-13 which is 17 months from Wed. So I emailed IObit asking them what happens to the extra five months if I upgrade, do I lose them? I expect to hear back from them tomorrow as they have always responded the next day to my emails.

I also want to make sure that ASC w AV 2013 is compatible with avast! AIS 7. I really don't want to get rid of avast! AIS at this point especially since avast! AIS offers a lot more features than ASC w AV 2013 like "Safe Zone" etc

Okay I purchased the license and installed it. Messed around with it for a bit and then uninstalled it and reinstalled PCAV.

My short review of it and why I uninstalled it.

I think that ASC w AV 2013 is a great product for those that are now using a Free AV program. Bit Defender consistently ranks at or near the top in virus detection and when you combine it with ASC Pro you have a dynamite combination.

I uninstalled it because.

1. I use avast! AIS 7 and in order to take advantage of the ASC w AV 2013 real time protection you need to disable avast! even when you install ASC w AV 2013 in the compatible mode. Since I don't really have a problem with Malware I saw no reason to uninstall avast! AIS 7 and replace it with ASC w AV 2013 since avast! AIS 7 as a near complete IS package and offers a lot of additional features that are not in ASC w AV 2013.

2. Also the on-demand scans with ASC w AV 2013 use a lot more CPU than PCAV (Panda Cloud anti-virus 1.92 Beta (free)) and PCAV runs fine in real-time with avast! AIS 7. PCAV is probably not nearly as good in malware detection as ASC w AV 2013 but since it runs fine in real-time with avast! AIS 7 and because PCAV is a lot lighter in CPU usage during scans than ASC w AV 2013 I preferred to uninstall ASC w AV 2013 and reinstall PCAV.

PCAV is also a full realtime AV just like ASC w/ AV and Avast, it was not designed to be a companion but a replacement. Hopefully you are not running the beta with its firewall enabled.

You missed the point of my post, no wonder you are SYH. It appears that you didn't understand what I posted. Let me repeat maybe I wasn't clear.

1. I use a complete Internet Security Package; i.e. avast! AIS for my main anti-malware program. ASC w AV is not a complete Internet Security package

2. ASC w AV has a compatibility feature which allows ASC w AV to run in conjunction with another AV program. However in the compatibility mode ASC w AV real-time protection is turned off.

3. On demand scanning remains available, however it is a CPU hog when used in conjunction with avast! AIS 7, SAS and IMF Pro on my computers

4. I do not have a malware problem with my current computer configuration excluding ASC w AV. I can run other on demand anti-malware programs other than ASC w AV that are not as big a CPU hog. If I had a malware problem then obviously the CPU usage issue during on-demand scans is superseded by using a program with superior anti-malware scanning capabilities despite using more CPU and/or more memory.

Due to #1 - #4 above I saw absolutely no advantage to using ASC w AV.

However, if a person is not using a complete Internet Security package or is using one that does not sufficiently protect their computer from malware then replacing it with ASC w AV would be a very good choice because the Bit Defender anti-malware engine is a very good one.

If the on-demand scan by ASC w AV in the compatibility mode with my other software was not a CPU hog then I would not uninstalled it and kept it on my computer. However, that was not the case, so I uninstalled it.

I thought that maybe with ASC w AV I could replace ASC Pro and get the benefit of the Bit Defender anti-malware feature in an on demand scan mode without increasing memory or CPU usage vs using ASC Pro and other on-demand anti-malware programs. This appeared not to be the case so I uninstalled ASC w AV since I have no malware problem. Therefore no need for improved on-demand protection at the cost of more CPU/Memory usage. This should now be clear enough.

Your comments were a total non-sequitur to my points. SMH

Face Palm Myself

What can I say, but my brain went into brain lock.

The higher memory and CPU usage was due to Panda PCAV. I decided to remove PCAV and just leave avast! AIS 7 along with IMF Pro and SAS Pro. I then installed ASC w AV in the compatibility mode which turns of the real-time scan feature but allows for on-demand and scheduled scans:-)

Checked the settings, ran some AV scans and set the scheduled scan. Everything appears to working fine and the computers actually have more RAM available than they did with ASC Pro:-)

Sorry about the brain lock (brain lock was I didn't think at the time that the PCAV could be the problem) Glad my brain got unlocked:lol:
