Another Lovely review from malware tips :

Recommended Posts

Interesting that almost all these reviews are using Malwarebytes. I find this interesting. Malwarebytes seriously? I have used its on demand scans for years and it hasn't found one piece of malware in about the last year or longer. Not so with IObit products.

These testers must not have any other AV defense on their system. Load some test samples and then look at the results. All of these tests are worth about as much as a handful of pennies. The reason is simple. They are run in a controlled environment. Well, people don't surf the Net in a controlled environment.

In fact most malware on Windows OS gets on computers because

1. People do not keep their software including the OS up to date with current patches

2. People use an out-dated archaic OS like Windows XP

3. People are still using x32 computers

4. People do stupid things like click on email attachments

5. People use Browsers without adequate browser protection like old versions of IE and Chrome, use Firefox without addons.

6. People click on ads

7. People don't use any AV software at all. It is estimated 17% of computers do not have AV software on them.

8. People download crap software

9. Worse yet people download software and run it before scanning it.

10. etc

Does this mean that one anti-malware software is not better than another? Of course not. What it means is that people should worry a lot more about items 1 - 10 than AV test results, especially with a test that uses Malwarebytes as a second opinion.

Thank you...you nailed it spot on. :) Most AV tests are insufficient and irrelevant in regards to promoting safe computing habits, as you mention above.

Hi Buddahfan!

Perhaps you will buy all those user/members an upgrade of their hardware and software out of your pocket??

I am happy for you that you can be current! As members of a worldwide forum we must remember that some of the members are blessed to even have access to a ten year old functioning machine that is still connected??? In countries sometimes where thousands and thousands are starving.

Sincerely,

2. People use an out-dated archaic OS like Windows XP

..well not all people can afford changing their OS every time a new one is released.

3. People are still using x32 computers

..I see nothing wrong on using 32bit PCs as long as you are using it wisely.

4. People do stupid things like click on email attachments

..why is it stupid to click on email attachments? That feature was made for a purpose. You should have said "clicking on unfamiliar email attachments" instead of telling that as if every email attachment is Malware/Virus. -.-"

Since we all understand how Malwarebytes works when it comes to sigs and detecting malware, and every one of us are aware of its wide use for malware removal. Using it does not make anybody a "fanboy" but it is important that users are beginning to use second opinion scanners and try "fixing" something themselves by using a legit removal tool. ;-) MBAM and IMF both work differently and vary in detection, etc. Like it doesn't go searching for cookies.

Even Hitman Pro joined this unique party! 8-) No doubt they will continue to use MBAM after testing the selected antivirus product. Reviews are not there to directly promote a product or telling the user to make a switch when your AV fails a single amateur test. Especially when all the user did was grab a bunch of random links from MDL, assuming all of them were malicious because they were listed.

Reviews (proffessional and amateur alike) give an idea and help users in their decision. In a way, these products are comparable to pokemon because nothing will "catch 'em all".
