smart defrag 1.0 stops/does not start

Have been using all previous beta versions and the latest standard 1.0. The beta 6 and the 1.0 are not working most of the times. When I press analyze and/or defragment, the process doesn't start. Never had such problems with previous beta versions (4.03, etc). Have XP pro, SP3. Any help please ?
