Advanced SystemCare 6 (Beta): One stop shop

I have sent a myriad of emails regarding suggestions, and what I have found. I know this is gonna get long, but I thought I would share with you all in the forum as well, to see if you share any of the views, or if you may wish to expand on them further.

1) So far, I like the new interface. My mother, who is in her 60's, uses this program, and to have the "simplified mode" I think will benefit her greatly, whereas power users like myself will benefit from "expert mode".

2) I am running my first deep scan with SystemCare 6 Beta, and it seems to run smoother than previous releases. I also like the higher visibility of the status bar. it makes it really easy to keep track of out of the corner of your eye. So far I have not had any problems, but I will go through and try to force an error, to see if there is anything that needs further work. The deep scan is running quicker in this new version than in previous versions.

3) I ran SystemCare 5, just prior to downloading SystemCare 6, and it has already found A LOT of things that the SystemCare 5 program missed. 165 registry issues. 58 privacy issues. 9 Shortcut Fixes...

So far, so good.

4) The Security, Performance and Stability levels are a nice touch. The one feature that might be nice to add is a brief summary of why the levels are what they are by hovering over them or clicking them, just for some quick feedback. All 3 of mine are as low as it gets. It would be nice to get an idea of what made it score so low, without going through each deep scan category.

5) The "fixes" in Deep Care were noticeably faster. I am running Windows XP on a laptop with 1GB of RAM and a 1.8 AMD processor. What usually takes 15 minutes or so in prior additions, took 5 in this one. The fully featured program has a nice lightweight feel.

6) After running Win Fix, the laptop froze. Had to manually shut off the computer by holding the power button. 2nd run of Win Fix was successful.

7) I have been dabbling with the toolbox features. Aside from the one time my computer froze while using Win Fix, no other toolbox product has caused any problems. I have tested the "pro" entries yet, but everything else has run fine, and quickly.

Keep up the good work!

8)The Turbo Boosts (work and game) do not really make any jaw dropping, noticeable improvements in performance, but that has always been a feature that seemed lacking. May I remind you, I am using this Beta on a decade old laptop, so any upgrade in performance is usually quite noticeable.

9)I just installed Game Booster 3.5 Beta as well, to see if I get noticeable results using the two programs in conjunction. In the past, ASC has been moderately useful, and Game Booster being slightly more helpful on my old machine.

10) Mixed results with the IObit Shortcut Fixer. It picked up on 27 errors, but not all errors. It didn't pickup 2 faulty shortcuts I created just for testing purposes. You may want to look into the algorithm on that part of the toolbox.

11) Here is the output from 'SysExplorer':

Not sure how I will use this info to help me out any. It would, again, be nice to have hovering over an item, or clicking an item explain the problem in further detail, and how to fix it.

12) I just used the registry cleaner and the internet booster. The registry cleaner located around 1,100 problems, that all got fixes (this was using the Deep Scan. I had already run a basic scan that found a few things.) I can't say just yet whether it will significantly speed up the computer, but the deep scan, on the surface, seems to pick up on a lot.

The Internet Booster did not seem to have any effect. I tested the network speed before and after the Internet Booster was run, and my speed stayed the same.

13)I just installed it onto my desktop computer, which is a 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4, with 2GB of RAM. It crashed on the very first attempt at a Deep Scan. Here is the SysExplorer report.

I am also using it on an old laptop. I put it on the desktop so I could compare and contrast the differences between the two.

14)Trial number 2 on the desktop did not crash at all. In fact, it turned up nearly 32,000 problems. Far more than previous installments of the program have ever picked up. The fixes, which typically take around 10 minutes to complete on this computer, took less than 3 with this new program.

So far, everything is much better on the desktop than on the older laptop, but both are better than other versions.

I will continue to monitor the program to see what makes it crash, if anything specific does.

15) The Registry Cleaner only took 1 minute to complete a deep scan, and revealed almost 400 problems. It only took 10 seconds to fix them all. AMAZING SPEED!

16) Ran Disk Cleaner on the desktop AND my external hard drive. The scan took far less than a minute, and the fix of 362 files even quicker than that.

The Internet Booster only altered two settings. The "TCP Window Size" and the "Globalmaxtcpwindowsize". Have not noticed any major improvements, but I will continue to monitor.

17) Smart RAM is as good as always. While just surfing the internet, and running all of the programs in my task bar (Trillian, Smart Defrag, Dropbox, etc.), I am still left with over 1.3-1.5GB free.

The Shortcut Fixer was run on both the C: drive and the external E: drive simultaneously. It only took 20 seconds. It found 137 problems, which were fixed in under 2 seconds.

The Cloned Files Scanner on both drives took 14 seconds, analyzed 44,332 files, and found over 3,500 cloned files. It takes forever to deal with the cloned files. It would be much more useful if youl could do a batch delete, instead of one by one.

18) The Cloned Files Search is very thorough, however, it could use a couple features to make it really nice. First of all, it would be nice to have a thumbnail image, when hovering or clicking a file, and number two, it would be nice to do a BATCH delete. Going through 3,000 files, one at a time, is way too problematic. Manually deleting clones, with no sort of batch delete caused it to take around 4 hours.

19) Reply from IObit: "lease kindly know that our Cloned Files Scanner only helps you find those duplicated files. You should decide whether they are useless or unnecessary before you delete them. If you delete some useful files, it may cause problems on your computer. Thus we do not recommend and allow users to select multiple files, because it may cause problems.

Thanks for supporting IObit."

My response back: "I totally understand. Just thinking of ways to simplify the elimination process. I had 7 copies of MANY pics, between phone, PC, laptop, PS3 backups. 3,000 is s lot to take on, even if you KNOW it is junk."

20) Going through the ASC 6 settings. This is another good spot to add information by hovering over options, before they are checked. For example in settings > care > junk files clean, lets say I wanted to know more about IIS log files before checking the box. It would be nice to hover over the selection, find out a little more about it and possibly the pros/cons of checking the box. It would be more user friendly, and appeal to a wider audience.

Speaking of wider audience, I have shared the link with my mom... the novice computer user, so I will be able to gather her feedback as well for you all.

----------------------------

This has just been my feedback, suggestions and observations for ASC 6 Beta... if you have anything to add, or your own similar (or even different) experiences, let me know.

Hi Mlappin... welcome to the Iobit forums!

If you haven't rebooted or emptied your recycle bin don't! You may need to restore some of these files!!

As you have communicated with Iobit concerning this hopefully you have been very careful. I have know way of knowing your skill level and this is why I offer this caution. You may very well have limited your deletions to files that you knew were safe to delete... in which case this post will serve as a caution to other members and visitors reading this thread.

even if you KNOW it is junk
Are you ceratin you deleted no necessary system clones?

You must be very careful with this tool!:!: It is for very knowledgable and experienced users! You can destroy your OS if you are not carefull! There is a reason you can't do a batch delete!! Your OS needs both copies of most of the files associated with it. Deleting them will render your OS inoperable and could create a situation where you have to re-format!

Please read this thread!

Sincerely,

-Mel

Live long and prosper!

[EDIT] by Mel: I have PM'd the member as well.

[Last EDIT] by Mel: Thank you for the well composed post Mlappin!!;-)
