Has IObit done any testing with the Velociraptor 1.TB drive Format and Smart-defrag?

(That new drive design has different sector size)

Are they compatible? :?:

For more info on the Velociraptor drives, see videos at this thread:

BTW- I want one of the Cute little guys for a Pet!

I'm not sure if it would get-along with my Puppy-dog or Not, though!

Should I contact IObit Support,

to find out if SD will work with the Velociraptor 1.TB drive ? :?:

Or is there a posibility that someone Here can answer my question?

It would be great to find out Before I purchase this new drive.

Thanks,

Hi

I think you would be best to send a PM to Cicely and ask if the programmers have had a look at it yet

If this is to become more common in the future then I am sure they will want to have a look and make any necessary adjustments as soon as possible.

Smart Defrag is updated often but they may be busy with (the defrag tool of) ASC beta at the moment

All the best, woz of oz

Thanks for the reply,

I've decided to wait for 'End of the Year' price specials,

before 'buying and trying'.

Maybe more info will be available by then ?

I could always use the defrag with W-7, if I had to,

but of course I would prefer to use Smart-defrag if possible. ;-)

I'm also waiting to get more Failure-rate data on the drives.

They have a 5 year Warrenty, but I don't want to buy an Explosive Device either.

I've been doing some testing of the 500.GB VelociRapter drive,

using the CrystalDiskMark utlity,

and if my math is correct it is about 12.% faster than the older boot drive.(about 2 years old)

Most importantly the speed difference is very obvious at Boot-up

or when running programs such as Smart-defrag.

I've not encountered any compatibility problems.

It is a very quiet drive and does Not run hot, as some reviews report.

I don't see How it could run Hot with the Huge-heatsink that comes with it.

Maybe they are referring to the larger 1.TB version.

Even though they are too expensive, I'm very Pleased with it.

I'll wait until the price drops some, before buying another though.
