You can now get widgets that lively display useful information in real time, such as weather forecast, calendar, news, stocks and more.

More Productive

Access to the most frequently used system tools and recently opened programs becomes easier and faster, saving time during working or surfing.

Quicker Searching

Exact matching in specific path searching decreases the time taken in searching and makes your work more efficient

Hi Mel,

Side bar and gadgets don't exist in Windows 8 with it's Metro design. :-(

So, first bring the new Metro of Windows 8 to older Windows, than bring back the missing is the idea, I believe.

FYI, I have installed a third party application which is using Windows7 files to bring back gadgets to Windows 8's Desktop.

I have been using widgets in XPs long before Yahoo bought Konfabulator.....

To be honest, I really don't like the Metro side of Windows 8, especially MS's forceful guidance for making us use Windows as they want even though the possibility of using classic side of Windows still exists. An example is that aero and glass is there but they don't let you use it?!?!?!

Although MS found vulnarabilities there in the sidebar in W7, if you take the precautions you can secure those vulnarable points.

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

What happens on a login when you install WinMetro b1?

Does the login take you to Metro or to your desktop?

If the login takes you to the desktop from where you can click on an icon or something to invoke Metro I will test out the beta. However, if your login takes you drectly to a Metro screen I will pass on testing it.

Thanks
