Email scanner in 2013 or Ultimate?

Hello -

 

I did a search to try and determine if Antivirus 2012/2013 or Ultimate beta does an email virus scan and the only info I found was a small reference here in the CMD line thread here http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=13180

 

about 1/2 way down where it states:

 

-mail

Whether to scan emails

0: do not scan emails

1: scan emails

 

There are no options in the ASC Ultimate or 2013 versions referencing email scans - can someone please confirm that Ultimate does in fact by default do 'incoming' and 'outgoing' email scans please.

 

My 73 yr old mother caught me off guard with this question... ;-)

she's been using AVG for yrs but its overloading her XP home.

Hi Immaculens,

 

This is not a definitive answer, but ASC Ultimate uses the same BitDefender engine as ASC w A/V, and also has the same command executable ascscan.exe using the same commands, so if the Real-Time protection is ON it should do scanning of e-mails in real-time.

Certainly you can do e-mail virus scanning by ASC Ultimate with a command in Command Prompt (with elevated rights-Admin) executed in ASC folder.

 

A definitive answer should be given by an IObit Team member, or a user who has seen that ASCU has quarantined an e-mail item. :idea:

thank-you Enoskype - do you mean I need to ask a Team member specifically, or do they watch these threads and someone might reply?

 

your reply does make it sound 'quite probable'... but the developers should at least give mention to this in its scanning features where this software is promoted, like majorgeeks, for example. There is no mention of the word 'email' anywhere, and it is a sought after feature form of AV protection...

To be more specifically, Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus/Advanced SystemCare Ultimate does not have online email scanner. But it can scan downloaded outlook emails. This command is used to execute the outlook email scan.
