ASC with anti-virus questions

i have downloaded and been using this software for about a week now. i havent paid, i am using the free version to see how it is before i pay for it.

i am very confused by its performance. not dissappointed, confused. i did have Norton previously and running that thing meant i had to give my computer alot of time to do the full system scan.

ASC with anti-virus 2013 is just blowing Norton out of the water. it takes at max 30mins to run everything on the deep care scan and repair.

does this ASC with AV 2013 do all the same things as Norton? i have read a thread saying this program does not offer malware removal or something but i have noticed it does have malware removal. can someone enlighten me on this subject please?

Hi D1craig

I am glad you find ASC+AV so effective, and fast. In fact you will find that it gets faster as it cleans out the junk and optimises your machine. Yes it does all the things that Norton does and more. It uses BitDefenderI Antivirus Technology, which is rated as #1 in antivirus protection. t does detect and remove malware, but is not a dedicated malware program. Most users usually install a dedicated malware program also, such as Iobit Malware Fighter or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Below are the features of ASC +AV 2013

Features:

• Based on Dual engine: the award-winning BitDefender anti-virus engine and IObit anti-malware engine

• Defends against possible virus infection, while speeds up PC rapidly in the meantime

• Scans and detects more threats, proven by generally recognized testing organization.

• Fast scanning ability provides reliable protection against viruses, spyware and other threats.

• Real-time and proactive protection detects and stops all kinds of malicious behavior

• Rapid virus database updates provides high-level of detection and keep your protection current

• Scans and removes spyware and adware with the latest definition

• Prevents spyware, hijackers and malicious websites

• Erases the history of all activities in your computer

• Scans and fixes invalid and improper registry entries

• Detects and removes invalid startup items

• Searches and Cleans up unused Windows garbage

• Repairs system configurations, Eliminates System Bottlenecks and Prevents Crashes

• Tunes up Windows to improve both system and Internet performance, unleashes the power of your Windows

• Analyzes and Shows detailed information of hardware and Windows

• Finishes all Work with one click, Super Easy to Use

Iobit has now launched a new Program called ASC Ultimate 6. This program contains all the functions such as Antivirus/Anti-Malware and PC Optimisation Utilities.

Also another question/problem - I ha e the smart ram program to run on windows start up. I like the thing to show up In The top right corner of my desktop and stay there all the time. But I have noticed that it is random whether it shows up there or not. I know it's still running because its at the bottom by the clock (can't remember what that part is called lol) I just like it to be at the top right of my desktop :(

Anything I can do to make it do this?

EDIT - so if I get that ASC 6 ultimate I will not need ASC with antivirus 2013 or the extra malware program?

If you enable the Performance in your General Settings, the Performance Monitor will show in the top right of your screen (You can drag it to any position you want and it will stay there) This will show your CPU/Disc/Ram/Network. The Monitor can be expanded and minimised and pinned. You can perform your Ram clean from it also.

See the attached screenprints.

This is easier than having Smart Ram active in your System Tray (thats the part at the bottom by the clock)

ASC Ultimate replaced ASC with AV and it does everything so you do not need another Malware program if you prefer not to have one.

Check this thread and it will give you the link to the October Avtivirus Comparatives which shows BitDefender as the #1. ASCU uses BitDefender technology.

IObit advices to use IObit Malware Fighter (IMF) with other antivirus programs as an antimalware companion, and also advices to use IMF with ASC Ultimate.

Cheers.

That is definitely the best advice, and I suggested the same in my first post, but D1craig, seems to want to minimise the AV/Malware programs on his pc, and if possible have one program do all, and if this is the case then ASCU is probably his best option.

Ok guys thanx a lot. How come the malware thing isn't built I to ASCU? I have no problem getting them its I don't want to run the same thing twice lol.

So when I'm back on my computer i will get ASCU an the malware thing. :) thank you for the quick and helpful replies.

EDIT - as of now I have memory cleaner from some website, it cleans my ram and something else every 5mins. Does smart ram have the ability to replace this?

Thank you for the feedback and we are glad we could help.

ASCU does have Malware protection built in, but it is not a specifically dedicated Malware software, and so Iobit recommend that you also have a seperate Malware Program as added protection. and they recommend Iobit Malware Fighter. An additional Malware Program is always recommended no matter what AV you use.

Yes: Smart Ram will do the job for you and you have options as to howyou want it to perform.

It is not advisable to use multiple RAM cleaner programs simultaneously.

Smart RAM does look after your RAM to optimize the availability smartly.

Most of the RAM cleaners use different algorithms, so you can't say 2 different ones will have the same effect in your PC. the same.

Personally I have tried many RAM cleaners with all the Windows OSses and my choice is Smart RAM.

You have to decide which RAM optimizer (cleaner) is best for you. (For your specific PC.)

Cheers.

Hi D1craig.

It is never a good idea to rely on a single software provider for protection... no matter what they offer or how good they are... even if thats what you want.

You can get comfortable and warm year after year by the fireplace, until the chimney sets fire... then all is lost.

A secure PC requires some attention... just like a chimney. It must be swept with different tools of different grades and purposes.

So, if you want to be safe and keep your machine fit, you have to do a regimen of easily accomplished tasks every so often, using the tools of your choice. Iobit has many fine tools. There are many fine tools to be found.

If you come across an automatic laundry folder, let me know! Especially if its incorporated into the automatic lawn mower and yard raker!

Sincerely,

-Mel

I called it a mother until I got a left school and got a job :(

Okay i will get rid of my ram cleaner and use the smart ram feature. It does automatically clean the ram if you set it too yes?

All other av and malware stuff Ive tried is very slow and uses a lot of my system - like avg, spybot and norton etc. what other brand that I will not have to buy do you suggest? I will be going with iobit but "I will need something else to do a check every now and then". How about MSE?

Yes, smartram can be set to automatic if you want.

I think you will be well protected with ASCU and IMF. I do not like to use 2 different AV programs on the same machine.....also it will use more system resources....but all this is a personal choice and in the end you will have to make the decision that makes you feel most comfortable.

Don't run two A/V's on your machine!! Make sure you uninstall properly!

I have not run this particular configuration... but based upon my interest accompanied by Scannan's advisement. If you choose ASCU and IMF, also run SAS (SuperAntiSpyware free and Eset online scanner every so often <10 days or so>). (look at the eset results carefully... there won't be many but you may get some FP's (false positives)... once you've seen them (the filenames will tell you they are FP's) you will know them and then move on.

If its a shared machine or if you consider your own surfing habits questionable, you might consider Comodo DNS.

When all has panned out and you make your choices on how you wish to protect your machine, we will all give any links and assistance you may need to get there.

Considering the system speed matter... have you limited your start-up programs to the bare minimum, cut off as many automatic functions of all your softwares as you can, and kept your machine clear of clutter?

Sincerely,

-Mel

I have kept my machine very clean ( not much questionable surfing lol I leave that to my laptop and phone lmao). Alls I have on my machine is WoW, Skyrim with steam maybe star trek online aswell and that's it. I have not got any music or anything on there I'm waiting until I get a portable hdd for that.

I have turned off or delayed everything I think is non essential, but with the stupidly vague names I don't know what most of the stuff is. I have just recently messed with java and adobe settings because they where asking to update everyday.

My system runs perfectly I just want to keep it that way and the less software/clutter i have on it the better.

right i have the ASCU now and i am doing the full scan. it does not have the list of scans that it is performing on the side of the box ie. defrag registry, malware removal etc etc.

is it still doing all them just its called full scan?

EDIT - i have found all the other things it can scan for now lol
