1) In the address bar in Firefox, type about:config

2) Next to ‘Filter’ type in ‘network’

3) Next up, find this entry: network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Double-click and set the value to 8.

4) Right-click anywhere inside the config page and select New –> Integer. Name itnglayout.initialpaint.delay and set the value to “0″.

5) Right-click anywhere inside the config page and select New –> Integer. Name itcontent.notify.interval and set the value to “500000″.

6) Right-click anywhere inside the config page and select New –> Boolean. Name itcontent.notify.ontimer and set the value to “true″.

7) Right-click anywhere inside the config page and select New –> Integer. Name itcontent.switch.threshold and set the value to “250000″.

8) Right-click anywhere inside the config page and select New –> Boolean. Name itcontent.interrupt.parsing and set the value to “false″

Find network.http.pipelining, and set the value to true

Then find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and set the volume to 150.Then, you should hit enter and close the tab.

Go to addons.mozilla.org and get the extensions SpeedFox.

Restart the Firefox browser and you should be set.

I tried the above because I find FF frustratingly slow - a real shame since its always been a preferred competitor to IE... but alas it did not speed up my FF and so I have stopped using it...

even with my add-ons disabled its too slow.

I use Chrome which is pretty zippy, and IE for Netflix (reports say Netflix does not work in Win 8 on Chrome and that's my experience)
