ASC Startup Items

Advanced System Care Updated to Advanced SystemCare Ultimate 6.

I notice there are now 2 items starting at startup for ASC in the Windows registry:

 

"C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013\ASCTray.exe" /AutoStart and

 

"C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\ASCTray.exe" /AutoStart.

 

These are in

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run.

 

Do I need both to run at startup?

They don't show up in Startup Manager in ASC.

It is normal for these to start if you have selected load automatically at windows startup in ASC General Settings.

 

It is normal for ASC to not show in the ASC startup Manager

They wouldn't Show in Startup Manager in ASCU as Scannan verifies.

Are you sure they are @:

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run

?

and not @:

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

 

You may have missed it, but if they are at where I have pointed out, please delete

String value Name :Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013 with type REG_SZ and Data: "C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\Advanced SystemCare with Antivirus 2013\ASCTray.exe" /AutoStart

in Registry Editor.

 

In fact, I would do a Clean Install of ASCU 6.

I missed typed, you're right. They're in:

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Actually I don't have a copy of ASCU. ASC updated on it's own.

Should I just remove the key or do a clean install?

Unless you have a problem, updating over the top or auto updating is OK, but I personally prefer Clean Install if there is a major version change.

 

If you decide not to clean install, then you can delete the key.

So I shuold simply download the updated version and isntall it afetr I do an uninstall?

Please apply Clean Install procedure (which includes registry and folder cleaning of hidden files/folders form) and you can download the most recent setup file from the link in Advanced SystemCare Ultimate 6 (6.0.7.274) is released! thread.

Got it. Did the uninstall and downloaded and installed Ultimate.

But, Even after running BitRemover it still left that one item in the Registry 'Run' Key. I manually deleted it.

Anyway, all is well.
