ASC Ultimate Database updates not working with proxy [SOLVED]

Hello, I was using ASC with Antivirus but its update database function was not working. Upgraded to ASC Ultimate and the problem persists. It seems like it cannot connect to the server. I checked Windows Firewall and couldn't find any problem.

 

What might be possibly wrong?

When you updated - did you do it over the top?

I think a Clean Install would be worth trying, (Link to the concept in my signature)

It wasn't working before the update. Did it over the top and problem continued. Uninstalled and did a clean install. Problem continued.

 

Uninstalling it is not enough if you have previously used ASC or ASC Pro on the same computer. You have to scour your directories for any ASC and ASC Pro directories and manually delete the whole directory including all the files in them. These will not be deleted when you uninstall ASCU

I have the same problem with my laptop but not with my office computer. When I switch on the laptop, I get a message to say that the database is out of date. I select "Fix now" and after about a minute I get a message saying "Cannot connect to server". I keep trying again and again and finally get it after about 8 attempts.

 

I have no trouble at all with the main computer.

Are there any difference at all between the program settings in your laptop and your office computer or your main computer.

Please check meticuously. (fx. go through all settings in Privacy and Junk files and please also check "Problems" in Optimizing.)

Please don't run any automatic cleaning before you have configured the settings to your need.

As well as following Solbjerg's suggestions, did you at any point use the Internet Booster on your Laptop. If you did, then you should open the ASC Rescue Centre and select Rescue all Internet Boost Changes, and see if that resolves the issue.

Newly installed ASC Ultimate 6 Failed to get update info

 

Hi, I just received a license for ASC Ultimate 6, so I uninstalled v5 and installed v6.

 

'Fix Now' launched the IOBIT updater. But..

Failed to get update information. Please try again later.

 

So I read this thread, uninstalled. And got a prompt to install the basic version. In fact most of it didn't uninstall & I had to use Revo Uninstaller in the end. There was a folder left over from ASC 5 as well. :-(

 

After that I restarted and reinstalled.

 

But still no update.

 

I even checked Zonealarm wasn't blocking it.

 

Ideas welcome.. Thanks!

Try this. It worked for me:smile:

 

Uninstall ASCU. The do a search of your "C" drive if that is where you have installed all versions of ASC and ASC w AV and/or ASCU and look for directories of older versions of all those products. Manually delete them, and reinstall ASCU.

 

You could alternatively delete all ASC, ASC w AV and ASCU directores and then reinstall ASCU. You may require you to re-renter your license key.

 

I don't know why the old directories are not removed. I have some ideas but I don't feel like going into them now.:smile:

I have used Revo Pro for years.

 

What you are suggesting is only one possibility. I am not gong into all of them at this time. If you do what what I suggested you should be okay.

 

In the future just make sure you do not do any major upgrades without first uninstalling the old version. Whether you use Revo Pro or the IObit Uninstaller make sure you uninstall with "Advanced" scan on.

 

This is a good rule of thumb to follow for a number of other products besides ASC, ASC w AV and ASCU

Yes the uninstall of ver 6 was unexpectedly a bit problematic for me as well. Make sure to delete the empty folders for all the ASC softwares once they are removed.

Mm, I can't recall any other security software I've installed failing to update--from W98 onwards..

 

Ok, here's a little further info for now..

 

1. I've uninstalled, stripped out any related folders left over, and registry entries, using locate32 (indexes entire disk quickly) and regscanner (faster registry scan.

 

Rebooted, reinstalled.

 

No change.

 

2. Autoupdate.exe - definitely not blocked by anything.

Netlimiter shows it trying to access

(pings ok, 106ms)

Offline database

 

Hi Victor2K - mm, see you've been having this problem some time.

 

Here's a workaround, involving a 126Mb or so download:

Search for 'Advanced SystemCare Ultimate Offline Database'

MajorGeeks has a link. Dated 13/11/12.

 

It's a 126Mb zip file.

Copy the contents over

........\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\Antivirus\Plugins

(or similar).

 

I found it still said this was out of date, but it's much bigger than what was there.

More info: Process Monitor record

 

Hi, I don't know if this will help.. I've attached a record using Process Monitor (Microsoft, Sysinternals) for the period while ASC is trying to get updates, from just before clicking the button, to just after it fails.

 

I've filtered quite a number of (hopefully) irrelevant processes.

 

Hope there may be some suggestion as to what to look for..

(It's a zipped .pml file - unzip & with Process Monitor installed, dbl click on it and it will open in Process Monitor).

 

I've also tried uninstalling Superantispyware (freeware version- no active guard), and I had disabled the static protection from Spywareblaster.

 

I've also tried turning off Zonealarm's AV, which (probably) leaves nothing that should conflict.

 

Is there any way of testing the update download independently?

So, lacking any useful response to date.. here are some things I've noted:

1. Inspecting Autoupdate.log:

- ascav-update.ini - can be downloaded in my browser, so is not blocked.

- the log file suggests this is not the problem.

2. http://download.iobit.com/bitdefender/data_1355904370/32

- from autoupdate.log - is not a valid URL (404).

 

This would appear to be a problem.

3. The following files are listed in the process monitor log as not found:

D:\IObit\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\Antivirus\WSp2p.dll

D:\IObit\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\bdfdnsq.dll

D:\IObit\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\WSDNS.dll

D:\IObit\Advanced SystemCare Ultimate\userenv.dll

- this is a system file, and is found in Windows.

 

testupdate.ini is also not found.

Thanks very much for the update. To solve the update issue, please follow steps below:

 

1. Please open your Task Manager to end Autoupdate.exe process if there is any.

 

2. Right click Advanced SystemCare Ultimate and select Open file location to open the program's installation folder. Find Autoupdate.exe and delete it.

 

3. Download improved Autoupdate.exe from http://wikisend.com/download/548194/AutoUpdate.exeand put it into the program's installation folder.

 

If you still get update failed error, please download the test tool from http://wikisend.com/download/154048/GetInfo_Ultimate.exe

 

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. Then you will get zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop. Please send it to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.
