Is it ok to run IMF at startup along with Windows Defender?

Yes to your question.

 

PLEASE NOTE,

If you install >>> ANY AV <<< on a W8 computer

Windows Defender is automatically turned OFF, its an AV/antimalware combined

so you need an AntiMalware programme.
