Defragmentation can not be done on the SSD and not recommended, but Check Disk Errors can be done and are recommended on SSD?

yes, you should check for disk errors but not defragment an ssd

Posted

Seems to be an issue with the defrag speed

SD3 has nice features and looks good, but I am having issues with it once it gets to 25% it slows to a crawl.

There needs to be some tweaks to it, to increase the speed drastically.

Don't know if this has been mentioned. However the option to replace the Windows defrag feature leaves the Windows Defrag feature with all the Drive boxes checked. I would think it would be better to remove the checks next to the Drive letter in Windows Defrag.

The Windows Defrag schedule has no box to uncheck but the Drives do. Smart Defrag should uncheck all the Drive boxes when a user chooses to replace the Windows Defrag feature with Smart Defrag. Alternatively Smart Defrag could grey the boxes out when a user chooses to replace Windows Defrag with Smart Defrag.

Hi Buddahfan,

Thanks for your suggestions. Could you please describe it in more clearly with related screenshots?

This cant be done on any system. SD3 cannot control windows defrag. As for the checkboxes if you leave them unchecked they'll remain the same next time.

Click on the Windows Control Panel. Type in "Defrag". Click on "Defragment and optimize your drives" One click is sufficient. The next sceen may take a bit to open. After it opens click on "Change Settings" A new screen will open. On the newly opened screen to the right of the word Drives click on "Choose" A new screen will open listing your computers drive letters. I am referrng to the boxes to the left of each drive letter. When they are checked you are telling Windows to use the Windows Defrag feature to defrag each drive with a check in the box to the left of the drive letter.

It is those boxes that Smart Defrag should auto uncheck when you install Smart Defrag and during install say yes to replace Windows Defrag with Smart Defrag.

Hi Buddahfan,

Could you please send us the related screenshots to show the situation you mentioned? You know users can tick " replace Windows Defrag " when install. And they can defrag directly by right-click the files or disks. It is very efficient.

Error Message

Error:

I get this error message "An error occurred in the application" continue application, restart application, close application. "See Attachment"

Clicking - "continue" application works fine.

Clicking - "restart application" gives the same error message.

Clicking - "close application" exits and closes fine.

I think the error is related to "Show Latest News", and/or "Hide Latest News".

Clicking - "Show Latest News" will give me the same error, as above.

Clicking - "Hide Latest News" gives me the same error, as above.

Note: After I click "continue" for each of the "Show/Hide Latest News" it will not show this error again for that session.

Analyze: OK

Deep Analyze: OK

Defrag: Ok

Defrag and Fast Optimize: Ok

Defrag and Fully Optimize: OK

Defrag and Prioritize Files: OK

General Settings: OK

Question- Do these settings apply with the "Automatic Defrag", "Scheduled Defrag", and "Boot Time Defrag"?

Automatic Defrag: OK

Note: Works, but sometimes ends up with fragmentation the same as it was when it started.

Question- Does this use the "General Settings" Defragment when fragmentation exceeds "%" setting.

Suggestion- I would like to see some sort of setting for time, or percentage of fragmentation setting.

Scheduled Defrag: OK

Question- Is it possible to have it run monthly at boot?

Boot Time Defrag: OK

Disk Cleanup: OK

Note:

"Old Prefetch Data" Check/Uncheck "Popup" Reads for "Clean DNS".

"Search Assistant" Check/Uncheck "Popup" Reads for "Old Prefetch Data".

Exclude List: OK

User Interface: OK

Summary- The product is awsome, and actually has improved the performance of my computer! Noticable!

Hi jeffs4u ,

Thanks for your feedback.

To look into the issue, please find the file bugreport.txt in the installation folder of Smart Defrag 3 and send it to support2@iobit.com

Right click on the Smart Defrag 3 icon on your desktop and choose the "Open file location" to open the Smart Defrag 3 installation directory to find bugreport.txt.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I know of Smart Defrag can replace Windows defragmenter.

@Octavian SD3/any other defragger can only replace the default defragger in dialog boxes but nothing can control it.

Error During Setup

I reinstalled because I remembered a error message during setup.

I copied it and here it is below, and is probably the issue. Help :?:

Here it is....

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine

Error Messages

I'm not sure what the differance is between a "ScreenShot", and a "Print Screen" as I posted? Here is all the information I have for the Error.

The text message shows the error "Details" during the setup process. It is a standard windows error message popup, but does give the opportunity to see the details.

This was the error details

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
