It increases the priority of the program concerned.

(B) is not a bug, is the letter to be typed to start this function.

Cheers.

EDIT: Sorry samr, I did not see that you posted

Hi Enoskype-I was aware of the right click option(you know my love of the right click :razz:)but I don't understand typing in the "B"-I checked my version of ASC for a user manual, but none to be found-could you elaborate please ? Oh, and Samr, thanks for pointing out that thread-think it was before my time.

hi detailer

without knowing for sure, I would guess that the b is what key you touch after the right click!! If you want to do it that way :-)

I haven't activated that option by me.

cheers

Hi detailer

Yes it is funny how we attach meaning to what we percieve as round numbers, - even I thought about it. In reality the only number I see as round is zero.

Do you remember a traveller's guide to the universe?

The secret of the universe is "44", but as we don't understand it, it has no meaning for us!

Solbjerg-congratulations-you just hit 700!!-you don't look 700 :razz::razz::razz:

Hi detailer,

Since solbjerg described the function of letter "B", I think there is no need for elaboration.

Well, perhaps there is a need to remind that, letter "F" is used for opening the file location same as "B" used for priority.

Cheers.

One more "F" detailer?

Here is what BBF may stand for then:

Best Friends Forever

Ben Folds Five

Backup File Format

Bicycle Film Festival

Boston Film Festival

BFF Western Nebraska Regional Airport(IATA code)

You can add more too.

Cheers.

Might be

FF; Flip-Flop, Form Feed, Friendly Fire, French Fry, Fox Free, Fast Forward, Fatal Function (which some users apparently find) :-) and a host of others I'll wager.

Cheers

Boost With Advanced System Care (b)

If I do a right click on the ASC icon I see "Boost With Advanced System Care (B). Does anyone know what this means or its function? If I click this entry nothing happens.

Yes-You will find that option in the context(right click) menu for all applications.By selecting that option, you get a little more "boost" or a bigger slice of the CPU to run that particular application.

Context menu command Boost

Hi detailer

About the Context menu point Boost - I am not sure there is room in the post (http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?p=11662#post11662) for that, but perhaps a link, Otherwise I'll try to find a logical place for it - it's the only one of the right click commands that perhaps warrants a bit of explanation.

A lot of different kinds of boosts exist - as a car buff you must know at least 2 or three. :-)

In the case of the computer my guess is that it is a Ranking boost, in that case it will work much the same as if you had been running the function/program very often so that the SmartDefrag will place it in "the fast lane"

Clicking the boost function for all files/programs/functions will defeat its purpose I think.

Seem to remember I wrote this last sentence somewhere earlier. (a long time ago)

Boost With Advanced System Care (b)

When one starts a program with right click menu Boost With Advanced System Care (b) option, the program runs with High priority instead of Normal priority for that specific run. In the next start of the program, running priority of the program will be default priority.

The priorities are as below:

-Real Time

-High

-Above Normal

-Normal

-Below Normal

-Low

You can check the default priority of a program by running it and checking the priority level with right clicking on the process of it in Task Manager and hovering your mouse over "Set Priority".

I wanted to add this, as it was not written in detail before.

Cheers.

It increases the priority of the program concerned.

(B) is not a bug, is the letter to be typed to start this function.

But why use "(B)" for this? Why use a method, or an indication, that is something different than the way it is done everywhere else in Windows? :?:

For this same type of indication elsewhere in Windows, a "B" (an underlined "B", that is), would be used for indicating a letter key activation of an item. That is NOT just for Alt-key combinations, either. Some drop-down menus initially open with an Alt-key, but then use just the plain text key that is underlined (with no Alt use) to activate a next item in the drop-down menu.

Why change and go off in a totally different direction? http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/confused/confused0024.gif

P.S. I seem to recall that there is the ability to have the underlining of shortcut keys be turned on or off in Windows, but I can't recall where that toggle is at the moment.

Tim-My guess is IObit chose "B" for boost-quite logical. Secondly, why should IObit be like Windows?-It's independent software-not everybody wants to be Uncle Bill http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Confused/crazy.gif

I'm totally with you on that second part. Amen!

Using the letter "B" is quite logical. Using "(B)", with the parenthesis, instead of "B", with the underline, is, IMHO, not being logical.

I think it is established convention now to use the underline and it is understood by the majority of computer users out there just what it does.

If OBit would have used B, then I don't think we would have even seen the question from rwbonin, which started all this.
