Cannot run ASC Version 3 (Error 0xc0000022)

Recommended Posts

I have just installed Advanced SystemCare V3. (free version)

When the setup program completes I then get the following error message:

Awc.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application.

So it fails to load and I cannot run this version at all.

Version 2 worked a treat! ;-)

I am on XP Pro, SP3

Thanks

Paul

Hi solbjerg

I've tried uninstalling/re-installing etc. but no success.

I've uninstalled it now, and put Ver 2.9.0.866 back on. This works fine.

It seems a read permission problem to me, but this is strange as I have Admin privileges on my login.

I have even tried doing the following, but to no avail:

CACLS c:\windows\System32\*.ocx /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R

CACLS c:\windows\System32\*.dll /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R

Hi awker

Did you try a totally clean install?

And did you download and unblock the install file?

Cheers

Hi solbjerg

Yes, I uninstalled V2 first, then installed V3.

I've tried adding AWC.exe to my anti-virus of exceptions list, but still have the problem.

The installation itself works fine. I get to select the language/skin etc.

Its when the wizard issues the call to AWC.exe the problem occurs.

thanks again

Hi hawker

Did you after the uninstall throw out/delete the AWC 2.9 folder and clean up the registry?

Cheers

After uninstall check for any left over IObit folder in window explorer and delete. Then check regedit in RUN and delete any IOBIT entries, run ccleaner and a free reg checker like winaso or eusing.

you pc should be free of any corrupt iobit bits now try a download to your desktop and instal from there.

Good afternoon Sunny

Excactly right - only if he has Smartdefrag installed too I'm not sure that he should throw out ALL IObit entries - just those that relate to AWC.

Possibly - now he has also ASC installed, and I think he should make a clean breast of it and Uninstall that too, and delete its folder in usually C:programs/IObit and then run a registry cleaner.

Throw in a restart for good measure and install the program like you suggested.

Cheers

Ok sunny

Probably a good idea to start totally from scratch.

Regards

solbjerg

I would delete the iobit defrag too and put it back after ASW3 is in place to eliminate anything that end as they are both the same software maker a file or shared file could have been miss sent to the wrong folder.

just to keep you posted.

I uninstalled everything from IObit.

Scanned the registry for any IObit related entries and deleted them

Ran 2 different registry cleaners

run a sfc /scannow

rebooted

still the same problem.

ho-hum!

Version 2 is food enough for me anyway, so I'll just stick with it!

Sorted!

Sophos is reporting STFix.dll to be of a suspicious file, of type Sus/Behav-113

You need to open up Sophos, click on configure, and then click on On Access Scanning, and add STFix.dll to its list of exclusions.

Perhaps IOBit need to contact Sophos to sort this out?

Thank you everyone for all your efforts and help in this matter.
