Not Running Realtime Protection with ASC Ultimate 7 = Bad PC Health

Recommended Posts

I have a three license copy of ASC Ultimate. I run it to the hilt on two of hte three machines. On the third, I am required to run and only run Symantec Endpoint Protection. I'm OK with that but my health always reports ':-( Bad PC Health'. I'd like to be able to run ASC Ultimate 7 without realtime protection and still show a healthy PC after a full Care scan, but I'm always frownie as the software is unhappy (warning ! icon) that I am not running realtime protection. Is there anyway to get a happy face without running realtime protection? Thanks, Dan T.

Hi sasdjt,

Thanks for your question.

Sorry to tell you that you must turn on real time protection to get a happy face. You know real time protection is quite important to protect your PC PC. By the way, could you please tell us why you do not want to turn on real time protection ?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Cicely

sasdjt, runs realtime protection on two of his three pc's. He is not allowed to run it on the third pc because he is required to run and only run Symantec Endpoint Protection, and can therefore not run ASCU realtime protection.

His third pc therefore will not show a smiley face because of this. He is asking if there is any way around this problem so he can have a smiley face on the third pc also.

On my third PC, as an end user, I:

- am required to run Symantec and nothing else,

- do not want to run two antivirus programs (so I do not run ASC ANTIVIRUS which is optional),

- do want to run ASC CARE scans,

- would like the Health indicator to be based on my CARE status, not on whether or not I have ANTIVIRUS turned on or not

The main nuisance is that the many icons in my tool tray indicate things needing attention. Since my IObit CARE tool tray icon always has a RED BANG warning due to me choosing not to run ANTIVIRUS, it is never clear when I need to give it attention.

As an end user, if I choose to turn off ANTIVIRUS then I do not want that decision to affect either my health indicator or tool tray icon.

sasdjt,

I understand your frustration, but there is NO way around it with ASC Ultimate which has the anti-virus as a main component.

May I suggest ASC 7? That has everything the Ultimate Care does w/o the AV!!

Then you will not have any 'RED' warnings in your tray!! If I am not mistaken,IObit ASC 7 is FREE! (EDIT: There are FREE and PRO versions of ASC7)

Kind regards,hope this helps,

Cowboy

Thanks, Cowboy. Makes sense. I bought the 3-user license to save money and really have two different needs so maybe that didn't make sense for me. I'll live with the warnings and consider getting two different licenses next time. Thanks again, Dan T.

I think that Iobit need to look at this. I do not agree that not running the realtime protection should show up as an unhealthy pc. By that logic ASC 7 should also show as unhealthy if you do not have some form of realtime protecton running.

In ASCU, if you have the realtime protection switched off but everything else on your pc is fine, then you should have a healthy smiley face and a warning notice that advices you to switch on realtime protection.

I do not believe not having realtime protection constitutes bad health in your pc. It may constitute risky behaviour, but not bad health.

Yes, Scannan, I feel you are right and what you write makes sense. I am now finding the RED tool tray BANG WARNING so annoying that I may just remove ASCU from my third PC. Not a good answer for me as a consumer or IObit as a seller.

Hi sasdjt,

Sorry to hear that you will uninstall ASC Ultimate.

Now it is suggested to uninstall your ASC Ultimate and re-install it in compatible mode, for you have other security products.

Under this situation, you do not need to turn off real time protection. Because it will detect that you have other real time protection. Then, it will run in compatible mode and do not affect your PC.

@ Scannan, I will report your suggestion to our product team for consideration.

Thanks for helping us improve our products. :-D
