Basic Info Regarding Translating IObit's Language File

  1. All IObit language files are a text file with a file type extension of .lng. (For example, English.lng. So you can open it with any text or word edit tool.)
  2. Each file contains many strings. Each string has three elements: Program variables, =, and word or paragraph. (For example, DisplayName=English or Label_Title_Care.Caption=Care)
  3. All strings are categorized to different sections (Info within [] symbol). (For example, [Main] or [ASC_Form_ASC8].)
  4. Translators only need to translate the words to the right of =. No changes should be made to the left of "=". (For example: Label_Title_TurboBoost.Caption=Turbo Boost. Please just translate Turbo Boost and do not translate or make any changes to "Label_Title_TurboBoost.Caption=".)
  5. All language files should be saved in Unicode format for correct display.
  6. Please DO NOT translate or change the variables like %s", "%d", "%d" ,"%s", "%u", "%.0n", "{0}", "%d%%". Any change to them (even adding a space between the variables like changing %s to % s) will cause program malfunction.
  7. If you want to add your personal information to your translation, please add before [Main] as follows:

; Translator Name:

; Translator Email:

; Translator Website:

; Translator Telephone:

Feature 1: How to start a translation from scratch

  1. Select the program file you want to translate from the drop-down menu. By default, If you already have the latest IObit programs installed, the program files will be listed in the drop-down menu. Or, please click Browse to load the file in Source English File.
  2. Enter your name and email address. That information will be created at the beginning of your translation so that other users will know who translated this file.
  3. Enter the translated file name. This should be written in English and add .lng to it. For example, French.lng. And enter the language you want translated into. This should be written in your local language. For example, Francis. French.lng will be used as your translation file name. Francis will be used to create the following section in the translated file so that this translated file can be recognized by the program.
    [Main]
    DisplayName=English
  4. Enter the translation into Translation column for all English words listed under English column.
NOTE: Once you translated a string under English, all its duplicated strings under English will be auto-filled under Translation.
  5. Click Save button once you finish the translation. If there are too many strings to translate, you can save your partially translated file at any time and continue the translation later. Just remember not to let a string partially translated before you save your work.

Feature 2: How to update a previous or partially translated translation

  1. Select the program file or manually load it in Source English File.
  2. Click Browse to load your partially translated (or old version) Translation file.
  3. By default, the program will list all languages that your Translation file doesn't translated.
  4. Just enter the translation into Translation column for all English words listed under English column.
  5. Click Save button once you finish the translation.
  6. If some previously translated strings are not used in the latest English.lng, right click anywhere of the Translation tool and click Remove redundant strings. It will remove all the redundant translations from your Translation file.
  7. Except translating the newly added strings in the Translation Tool, you can also right click anywhere of the Translation tool and click Export untranslated strings. It will save them in a separate file. So you can only translate that file and send it to us with your previous translation.

Feature 3: How to take advantage from an old translation

Here we take Advanced SystemCare 7 and Advanced SystemCare 8's French translation for example.

  1. Load the latest Advanced SystemCare 8's English.lng in Source English File.
  2. Load Advanced SystemCare 7's French translation French.lng in Translation File.
  3. Load Advanced SystemCare 7's English.lng in Old English File.
  4. Click Auto Translate button. It will create a new French.lng file that includes all the French translations that use the same English words between Advanced SystemCare 7 and Advanced SystemCare 8.
  5. Then select a folder to save the auto-translated French.lng for Advanced SystemCare 8. So now you get a partially translated French.lng file for Advanced SystemCare 8.
  6. Refer to Feature 2: How to update a previous or partially translated translation to translate the newly added and modified strings in Advanced SystemCare 8 to make the partially translated French.lng fully fit for ASC 8s English.lng.

Feature 4: How to compare the changes between two files of different version

Take ASC 7's English.lng and ASC 8's English.lng file for example. Translators can also use this feature to compare your two versions of translation.

  1. Load ASC 8's English.lng in Source English File.
  2. Load ASC 7's English.lng in Old English File.
  3. Click Exact Match button. It will display all ASC 8's English.lngs newly added strings and modified strings (like a word changed).
  4. Right click anywhere of the Translation Tool, you can click Export changed strings. It will export all the newly added strings and modified strings in a separate file. So translators can only translate this exported file and send it with your translation for ASC 7 to IObit.

Feature 5: How to proof read a translation

Take ASC 8's French as an example.

  1. Load ASC 8's English.lng in Source English File.
  2. Load ASC 8's French.lng in Translation File.
  3. Right click anywhere of the Translation Tool and click Display all strings. In this way, it will listed all the strings, translated or not translated, under Translation. So users can proof read the translations in this tool without bothering to open English.lng and French.lng at the same time to check the translations.

Currently Translation Tool don't read comments in:

; Translator Name:

; Translator Email:

; Translator Website:

; Translator Telephone:

And it doesn't read

; TranslationAuthor:

; TranslationAuthorEmail:

which are not add if entered in application.

Would be nice if TT read above comment, which are add, to not have to enter them every time app is started.

Also notices, while Target Language string is same as Source Language string, TT doesn't keep it as untranslated.

I found few lines in Uninstaller that were completly in EN.

Search function would be also nice.

Where can I download ASC 7's English.lng or something similar? Thanks!
