Hi ZZdee,

Thanks for your reply.

Well, Smart Defrag should not bring back deleted files. There should be some misunderstanding. Would you please re-install Smart Defrag v4 from http://update.iobit.com/dl/smart-defrag4-setup.exe

to see whether the issue happens?

Besides, you can check whether the Shut Down feature works.

Looking forward to your good news. :-)

Is there a defrag option to consolidate space? i have very fragmented disc, mainly consisting of big files like 20gb each, even though there is like 600gb free space there is no continuous space to defragment these, so files have like 50k fragments and SD4 cant do anything about it, which is a problem for a defragmenting software, don't you think? Tried all defrag options always end up with small chunks of free space, considering on moving to something else.

Hi Batchman and Kudoyuzi,

Thanks for your feedback.

@Batchman, I will report your concerns to our product team to continue to improve our products.

@ Kudoyuzi, do you mean that the space of your C drive decreased 10 GB after running Smart Defrag?

If so, please download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/SD4InfoHelper.exe

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. You will get a zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop. Please send it to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Cicely.

if you do not want to post the related screenshot here.

Please just send the related screenshots to sdfeedback@iobit.com.

I mean not screenshort (not a problem) but file generated by your SD4InfoHelper tool.

Generated file contains a lot of information which I don't want to publish in worldwide visible attachment.

OK, the updated screenshort is attached now.

Note: I had a sumilar problem with W8.1 but never reported it because as I recall there was no information supplied when the process failed

OS: W10TP 10049

Smart Defrag 4.0.2.690

Computer uses UEFI to boot

Wireless Keyboard: Logitech MK 320

Driver: Provider Microsoft

Driver Date 6/21/2006

Driver Version: 10.0.10049.0

Digital Signature Microsoft Windows

Situation: Attempting to do a Boot Defrag. All three boxes are checked. 1. Defragment Page files and Hiberation files, 2. Defragment MFT, 3.Defragament system files

I get the following error message:

UEFI failed on initializing keyboard, process will not continue

Boot defragment is then skipped and the computer goes directly to login. There is no problem performing the boot defragment on two W10TP 10049 computers using BIOS rather than UEFI and a Logitech keyboard either the MK320 or MK260.

I had a similar situation when I was running W8.1 on all three computers. The two booting under BIOS performed the boot defragment without a problem The one booting under UEFI as I recall succeeded performing two of the three processes. Sorry I can't remember which one failed. As I stated above I do not recall seeing a detaled error message. Just that that part of the Boot Defragment failed.

There needs to be a way to Set how many drives are shown, and how they are shown. I can only see 3 HUGE buttons when I need a Drive List, and have to scroll three screens over to get to them. The program should NOT BE USING MY BROWSER FOR ANYTHING other than updating, and even that should be done in-program.. Reports Need to be shown In-Program and not on my browser.

+ Brand New UI - Simpler but easier for operation.

More can be discovered by you.

The UI might be brand new, but it's NOT simpler to use. Actually quite the opposite. It might seem simpler if you have only 1 or 2 HDD's, but if you have more it's a pain to use.

once again one of those "trying to look modern" with no care of usability.

Comparing to "SD3" UI, "SD4" UI has

1) Impossible to get an overview of HDD's (There just is no function for that anymore, no list of HDD's)

- The "tabs" might seem modern, but they don't perform the same thing as a proper list does (as was in "SD3")

2) more difficult to scroll through HDD's

3) arrow keys don't change HDD (neither do tabs) - I would never pay a dime for a software which is unusable without mouse

The whole "left to right" business which goes "past the page" is nonesense. The Smart Defrag 3 UI was much more user friendly.

Try putting it in a pc with more than 4 HDD's/partitions + WindowsApps. You will find that "SD3" has much better UI.

Hi,

I installed Smart Defrag 4 and had it analyze my system. Everything worked fine. When I saw my D drive had over 100 GBs of fragmented files from a disk image of my C drive I no longer needed I deleted it and re-analyzed the D drive. Now the drive is showing up as an SSD. As you can see in the attached image, I apparently own a 1TB solid state drive. Which sounds pretty snazzy, but so far I'm not seeing the improved performance. :P

Do you mean that your D drive is HDD and Smart Defrag has recognized it as SSD?

You got it. It was showing up as a hard drive at first, but after I deleted a disk image that was stored on the drive Smart Defrag is now convinced it's a solid state drive.

Hi, I have Smart Defrag 4.1 which I have downloaded both to my Dell PC and my Venue 8 Tablet.. Both systems are operating on Windows 8.1 at latest update.

The PC has an SDD as its boot drive and its where I keep my programs. Data is stored on an HDD with a HDD back up dis as well. When I run Defrag 4.1 on this computer all is very smooth and it correctly recognizes the SDD and runs the Trim utility.

For the Tablet though it does not recognize the drive as an SDD and wants to run the HDD defrag program.

Can you explain this behaviour and could you advise what to do with the tablet.

Thanks

Smart Defrag is nice as a defrag but cleaning it does not do a super job, every program needs to clean again, MS find many things if leaves, and Win8manger finds much, so the cleaner is a DUH, but defrag is great

Snuffy

Defrag is just that.....it defragments files. It does not clean. Maybe you should explain what you mean by cleaning??

Hi bdh48,

Our specialists are still working on this issue and trying to figure it out.

Please click the arrow button near the disk type to remark the disk type from HDD to SSD manually.

We appreciate your understanding.:-)

Hi Snuffy,

The Junk Files Clean feature in Smart Defrag only support for cleaning junks on system disk, usually disk C. For complete clean, it is suggested to try Advanced SystemCare.

I have forwarded your concerns to our product team for serious consideration. Thanks.:-)
