OK, only System Files TRASH, I have had to DISABLE on Start with Windows. been having issues with SHUTDOWN, RESTART and Windows 10 does not like at all. so set only to manual operate.

the rest of Smart Defrag works OK, I have the FREE version on several older (friends) machines. what is scarey to all my OLDER not Computer Savey is FREE is not really FREE it constantly

scares them they might click the WRONG DL and upgrade, which 2 have done... and the PAY version is well SCAREY to them. so I simply tell them (DO NOT CLICK ANY UPGRADE LINKS) i will come over weekly or 2 weeks and upgrade for them...

I cannot understand why you and they are so scared....if they make a mistake and click upgrade they will be asked to purchase a licence. They can simply exit the system and nothing will happen regarding the upgrade.

The difference between free and paid is the buying of the licence, for which you would have to give payment details.

i've got a problem. I own the Pro Version of Smart Defrag and never had any problems with it. But sinde the latest Update 4.1.0.741, the program tells me with every Windowsstart, that there is a newer version available. I've updated it a couple of times, and everytime SmartDefrag tells me, that now i own the latest version of it. But when starting Windows for the next time, there is a new update reminder, as if i never installed it before. It's a little bit strange! What can i do, to install the latest Proversion the proper way?

I installed the version you posted, and after it, the porgram shows me the right version of the program (see picture 1). But, when i am rebooting my pc, he always switches back to version 4.0.3.725 and shows me the update reminder. I don't know why. I probably updated it 12 times for the last few days. Always with the same results. :(

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. You will get a zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop, please send it to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

I will try it. But i tried another way, by completely removing the Smart Defrag installation from my computer w/ IObit Unistaller. I restarted my pc and did a clean new installation from the Pro-Version from the link out of the eMail, which i received, after i bought it. So far it seems to work. But i didn't restart my pc since then. I will keep you updated, if it worked.

I'm sorry, but that is totally false. You are aware you can set things like CPU priority with Diskeeper right? I've used\use both Diskeeper and SM4 and neither uses much more resources than the other really and theres no question the defrag routines with Diskeeper are better than what SM4 uses, I'm actually still waiting on some of the things I suggested back around page 9\10 I think it is to get added to SM4 as SM4 ticks all the right boxes but it definitely requires some refinements and I'm not talking relatively pointless UI changes as long as SM4 doesn't go the Diskeeper 2012 UI route its safe.

 

I would suggest you download Regcleaner and check out its startup tab I'm willing to bet you have a crapload of processes starting up with Windows that don't need to, they are what would be slowing your system down, unless you just have a really old outdated system.

looks more like a SPAM instead of a FREE test program, DVDSoftware, also thanks for moving away from CNET DL, softpedia is much better .

All you have to do is open Defrag 4.2 move to lower left and best alternate Torrent. click takes you to Free Torrent Download, they popup move spam - close that spam then click download

FREE should be FREE not filled with SPAM to get more SPAM, many people love your products bet are scared because they manytime click the wrong DOwnload, then suddenly its PAY to PLAY,

(I do lots of freework for olders) so i weekly or every 2 weeks go to ea and update the FREE and bypass all the PAY TO PLAY.

i understand advertisement helps but such as that take away from IOBit - testing still on Windows 10 x64 Enterprise.

OK strange thing this morning, SmartDefrag sudden wants to DEFRAG on start my SSDs. Crucial M500 960gb. and on Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise, full MS updates. and boy i was supprised when start and suddenly a popup than my SSD was defraged so i open and check and YEP it does not see as SSD. so next is remove Smart Defrag and see if reinstall will see the SSD is SSD

My fix for this error is (1.) uninstall smartdefrag (2.) logo + X -> cmd prompt as admin -> fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0 (3.) if you get 1 then SSD Support is not available.

then - (4.) reinstal smartdefrag and it will show TRIM available...

Since there are various types of SSD, so sometimes recognition failure will occur.

 

Our specialists are still working on this issue and trying to figure it out in next version.

 

Please click the up&down arrow button near the disk type to remark the disk type from HDD to SSD or SSD to HDD manually.

At this time I am using dfigui by MS to trim the SSDs. some times i check and smartdefrag seems the correct and other times it does not... i have no idea what changes or why.

This set is all by Crucial (Micron) if that helps...

I have several older not computer savey that love ASC and or parts of, yet every time it says updates - they are scared to click ok - the site if VERY UNCLEAR as to what to click to DL and upgrade,.

why because once the update is clicked you get a page with several click to download things, and if they click the WRONG thing (it is not what they thought they were getting)

some crap about your infected, and they can not click out, or they get BUY now, and or Activate now, then it is NOT FREE. I understand this is most common today, word things that are not 100% clear to older folks, CNet is the worse - and not all of them, want to continue to use FREE that really is NOT FREE... SO almost all of them have simply called and "Take this SH*T out, confusing, and so far locally only one has continued - She does call me and have me upgrade all of her stuff and her kids stuff on Saturday...

One bought a new Laptop with SSD and was suprised when it started to DEFRAG - she did call me an "Ask-you said DO NOT DEFRAG your SSD only use TRIM. ) sure as hell the Defrag did not see her SSD as a SSD but as a HDD. - so I totally removed SmartDefrag and when to the DFGUI by MS - set it up for a weekly TRIM.

Firstly, your assumption that I am a younger person does you no credit. I did not understand because your description was vague and truncated.

 

Secondly, your previous post (#317) is a much better description of your difficulties, and easy to understand. Additionally, I agree with you wholeheartedly regarding the updating/upgrading issue. Iobit's current marketing strategy has long been criticised in the Forum by all age groups and sadly has been largely ignored by Iobit. So this is not a young/old thing.

Please also ensure that your friends do not use the Tech Support facility, as it is operated by a so called partner of Iobit and is tantamount to a scam and is not being addressed by Iobit.

It is best to use the Forum for assistance, and or email Iobit directly at support@iobit.com

 

I personally do not use the update system. Instead, I keep an eye on News & Updates section of the Forum. If there is a newer version of an Iobit product which I wish to have then I download it and install it. It usually installs over the previous version, but if it does not then I use Iobit Uninstaller to uninstall the older version. You can also uninstall the older version before you install the new.

With regard to Smart Defrag not recognising the SSD. This issue has been raised many times in the SD forum. Please see Here for a solution.
