Computer close-down time

Since I've stopped using IE7 my computer close-down time has reduced dramatically ( from about 40 seconds to 12 or so).

It takes about six seconds for the "Turn Off Computer" logo to appear after clicking Start > Turn Off Computer, about two seconds for "Save Settings" and a further four seconds to close completely. Can I thank IE7 for this?

Hum. If that the only thing that has changed, then quite possibly. It can also be your switch of anti's. Avira might run lighter then Avast!, hence the change.

Yes, I wondered if Avira might deserve some of the credit.

 

I can't see anything in Avira's Help file about performing a scan during bootup like Avast does. Perhaps Avira doesn't consider it necessary?

I think Avast is one of the only av's that has a boot time scanner. Avira does not, and i believe all av companies should learn from them. It would be much easier to remove malware that way.
