I have both SD4 & SD5 on my W10 machine and on an old XP machine. I do not know if this causes an issue (need input from moderators).

This may not work for you (need input from moderators).

SD5 installer requires SD4 (or other older versions) to be uninstalled. However, if you still have (and can locate) the original SD4 setup file, it probably can be reinstalled after installing SD5.

Smart Defrag 5 Pro is buggy for a couple of reasons to me:

 

(1) The program isn't starting on Windows-Boot - I set this mode within the options-tab to on, but nothing happens

What's strange about it, i have always to give hin Administration-rights, which sucks. :( Never had any problems with it in the past.

 

(2) Boottime defrag isn't working either, it worked perfect in Smart Defrag 4

Yahoo/Ask is practically Malware. 1st time though the installation procedure, had no opt-out for it, or the other progran add-on. Second time had opt-out for Yahoo and it STILL tried to install that crap. I realize i'm using the freeware version, but there are things I just won't do. Bad enough I get a daily pop-up because the free-trial on the malware defender ended. I'm one issue away from deleting ALL iObit software.

my upgrade to SD 5 came about a week ago. I tried every day to run an analysis or de-fragmentation, but the program just stops at about 10%. I started a thread here in the forum but don't get an answer. Also my ticket to IObit Support never got me any help. I didn't even get a confirmation, that my request was received. :xThumbs down

Even though this answer wasn't adressed to me, I just sent that ZIP-file to the support-address. I really hope, I will get help after all this time trying to. After all, I have paid for the PRO version

I got an answer for my ticket from the support desk, but the advice they give doesn't really help.

They ask to copy/ paste two files they sent me into the Smart Defrag-folder.

It works fine with the sdproxy.exe file but the sdcore .dll - file can't be pasted into the folder.

.I keep getting the message "Folder or file within the folder is open...please close..."

How can this be?

I closed all programs and windows, but this message keeps popping up. Why can I paste the .exe but not the .dll - file?

any ideas?

I did get the reply. What they advised me didn't work. There is no option "Exit" when I right-click the icon, I had to stop the program via the task manager. After replacing the .exe and the .dll - files, I ran that program again, but to no avail. Still stopping. Analyse after 24%, defrag after 11 %... Now I sent the sdproxy-log and the sdcore.log-files to them..let's see, if the problem can be solved finally

Please check the ticket. We have replied you there. Presently please try to Analyze first and and the try the Fast Defrag to see if it freezes.

We will get back to you if any update about the issue from our specialists.
