Help needed with ASC 9 installation

I am at the start of a six month trial of ASC Pro, a Chritmas & New Year offer. My ability to launch it has brokent. The shortcut no longer works and I cannot fix it. I cannot identify which is the appropriate exe file to click. I need help with getting the program(s) to run again, either by identifying the exe file already installed, or by downloading / installing the suite again. With regard to the latter, I see there is a new version. Can I download that, 'killing two birds with one stone''. So far, online I have only seen promotions for the free version or the pro version for a subscription --- obviously I dont want to pay until towards the end of the trial period.

Advice please?

Windows? XP? Vista? 7? 8? 10?

ASC 9.1 is the current version

Check your System Tray; is the ASC icon there? Right click it and open ASC.

Check your Task Manager; is ASC.exe listed? If it is in the list it may be hidden by something.

to start ASC::

Click "File" in Task Manager and click "Run" OR hold the "Windows" button (between ctrl and alt) and tap the "R" (Run) button.

In the window that appears type in "ASC.exe" and click OK. Did this work?

Run (Scan with) ASC, selecting "Shortcuts Fix" and auto Repair" along with whatever else you wish to scan. As broken shortcuts is one of the items for which ASC scans; perhaps your ASC shortcut will be repaired. Search for ASC.exe and double click it. Did either of these work?

Locate the original installer file in your download folder and run it again. Did this Work?

Locate the original e-mail containing your KEY and download link.

Hi clayto2,

After you double click the desktop shortcut of ASC , is there any error message? If there is, please take a screen shot and send it to us.

Please download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelperV9.exe

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. So you will get a zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop. Please send that file to us so that our specialists can further look into the issue.

Thank you very much.

Thank you both for the detailed advice. My OS is W'indows 10.

Using Run produces the response "Windows cannot find ASC"

In Task Manager ASC does not appear as an App. There is a Background Process, which is ASCTray. But ASC is not in the Tray. There are 'component parts' of the suite: Malware Fighter and Smart Defrag, Driver Booster. But in All Apps clicking ASC has no effect. IObit Uninstaller produces error taskMgr.dll is missing, try reinstalling the program. Shortcut Fixer requires me to enter the ASC.exe target to work, but it cannot be found. so he icon on the desktop does not work, etc. I will try some of the other procedures later today, but I suspect in the absence of ASC.exe they will not work. I will send / I have attached tthe report from the tool.

Thanks for that suggestion. I have the original email and activation key.

I now have another problem on which I have spent some hours without success. I downloaded ASC to my D drive and checked that it would launch OK from there. I now need to remove it from my C drive which is a small capacity SSD, running out of space. First I moved everything to a folder labelled IObit© in my D drive, as a backup, just in case. Then Uninstall goes through all the stages, including IObit telling me how sad they are to see me go and warning me of the consequences, and finally reporting that the uninstall is complete. But ASC and its associated programs are all still there!

I have used IObit Uninstaller, with the power mode in which I have deleted a number of left over files, and I have used RevoUninstaller ---- more than once, in both cases, It has not worked. So at the moment I have two copies on my D drive and another on C. What do I have to to free up the space on C?
