12 hour defrag scan in ASC Pro?

Why does it take 12 hours to scan and defrag on my pc. I have all programs closed, no screensaver on, outlook is not open retrieving email.

 

It just seems like it takes forever. After it gets done when I click button to resolve issues another 12 hours or so.

 

Surely this can't be right can it?

Usually, other security software and anti virus software causes defrag to be slow or hang.

 

Please have a look at that post of IObit Guy.

 

Most probably, you have also checked the checkbox of "Enable Smart Defrag" in Disk Defragment section of "Options". This would defrag and optimize and would take a considerable longer time than Defrag only.

 

If you disable the other real-time security programs temporarily, it should take a fraction of the time you defragged in the first instance.

 

You have to give us more information about the adjustments you have set in the Options, and other software that you are using, hadware, and Os, so we can be more helpful.

 

Did you try the free Smart Defrag program of IObit? ASC 3 uses the same logic, and you can follow the progress in Smart Defrag with more options.
