Detection Issues

Two days ago I did a test with some recent malware I downloaded. Firstly, I ran an update in IMF to make sure I had the latest definitions. When I extracted the archive of malware samples, IMF detected nothing. Also doing context menu/custom scans detected nothing, even though when I scanned the files using JottiQ (which uploads them to jotti.org to be scanned via multiple antiviruses), Bitdefender itself did detect several of the files.

I installed ASC Ultimate, and it actually did detect malware. I think Bitdefender detected one or two more threats, but that would have been due to ASC not using the very latest Bitdefender signatures.

I still have IMF installed, so I laucnhed it, made sure it was up to date and then scanned again with it, but still nothing was detected. When I scanned again with ASC, some more threats were detected - e.g. due to using a more recent Bitdefender database, and threats that Bitdefender added detection for after I ran the initial scans.

So far I'm linking ASC Ultiamte a lot as the quick scan if fast - around 5 minutes, whereas from memory it takes well over 15 minutes with IMF.

Hi Roger-m,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry for my late reply.

Could you please send us the malware samples that you are using for test so that we can test it? By the way, do you turn on Bitdefender Engine in IMF?

What are the threats that ASC detected? Please send us the related screenshots.

Guide for taking screenshot.

Besides, please download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelperDumpV9.exe

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. You will get a zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop. Please send it to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
