Software informer

Is anybody else aware that this latest edition to Advanced system care has a trojan embedded into it due to the addition of software informer. My spyware checking programme has removed it and I will not use that aspect of ASC .The rest of the programme is very good and no other spyware has been detected.Type software informer into any internet search engine and you can see the reports about its use of spyware etc.

Thanks for that info, but my spyware programs have already reacted and deleted it .However the software informer programme without the trojan seems to operate just fine and functions in the normal way.Note other websites report a keylogger inside the programme .

Software Informer Module (New version)

Hi everybody,

Download the siClient setup file "siinst.exe" from here . Installation of the setup file will reveal "softinfo.exe" (1589 KB) file in:

C:\Program Files\Software Informer\softinfo.exe

Rename a copy of this file as "Sup_softinfo.exe" without quotes, and copy that file to the main folder of ASC3.

You can use the new latest version 1.0.323.0 Beta of Software Informer through ASC 3.11. There is no malware/spyware in the file.

Enjoy it.

Agree

it is not spyware because it collects information about your computer so it can check if the programs are updated. thus it acts like spyware but is not malicious.

I AGREE WITH YOU. SOFTWARE INFORMER IS THE BEST SOFTWARE IN THE WHOLE WORLD UNIVERSE YEAR END YEAR!!!

Please read the postings as this was not my intention .I am still using orbit and it is very good as previously mentioned.

As to my computer being up to date , the detection programmes I use are very much up to date and are beyond the normal free issue spyware programme capabilities.Maybe too much.

SI

Its not a great program, and it does not work great. It shows I need to up grade 6 programs, and that is completely false. All my programs are up dated. As far as spyware, I also show it , but just ignore it. SI needs some attention before its a great program.

Agreed

Same here-there's no way in h*!! I need fourteen updates-Ignore this cheesy add-on and proceed to the PC's or manufacturer's respective websites to check for and obtain updates for your applications and especially drivers-I would never trust this very important task to third party software, paid or otherwise.

Hi detailer and gary

I find that it is about on par with secunia.

Several of the "updates" are just shown because the previous versions is not completely removed by the updates, and some are versions that are trial versions or versions you have to buy.

It is still the most prudent course to use it with a good portion of caution.

Nevertheless it has shown me a couple of applications that I have now updated. So using it as a hint is ok I think.

Cheers

Hi docholiday

Yes in the newest version it is gone, - my guess is that too many took the suggestions for gospel instead of using them as pointers and checking thoroughly beforehand.

Now only the driver update remains - but here too one has to check oneself I suggest. But anyway I think the suggestion are helpful - they provide you with information so that you yourself can decide

Cheers

Has this now reomved from IOBIT?
