Suggestions For Next Version of Start Menu 8

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I've been using SM8 on and off for a while now on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 machines.  Overall, I think it is a great piece of software, however there are two things about it that really bother me and I was hoping they could be implemented in a future version:

1. The SM8 start button/menu only works on the main display/monitor and does not work on any other monitors - the normal Windows 8.1/10 start button/menu is on other monitors.

2. Instead of choosing a number of programs to display (under "General"), it would be better if the list would automatically grow and shrink based on the number of programs you have favourited.

Both Classic/Open Shell and StartIsBack do not have either of the two above issues.  If these could be fixed in SM8, I would switch to it full time.  What do you think?

I see we're onto version 6 now but neither of the things suggested were implemented.  Just wondering - do the software devs check this board? 🙂

Point 1 is really important, IMO...  It's the main thing keeping me from using SM8 full time.

I have some more suggestions too:

3. Please make the Videos link (which you can enable under the Menu section of Settings) link to the Videos folder and NOT the Videos library.  All the other links (Documents, Music, Pictures) link to the correct folders and not the libraries.

4. An option for the start button icon to increase in size if higher display scale settings (i.e. 125% or 150% zoom) are chosen in the Windows display settings.

Are these things that could be implemented?
